World Series Game 5 TV ratings trounced 'Sunday Night Football'
After Sunday night’s memorable, exciting Game 5, it’s not like anyone really needs more proof that baseball isn’t dying. But just in case you do need more proof, here it is: Game 5 of the 2017 World Series beat “Sunday Night Football” in TV ratings.

HP ump has a .......how can I say this "nicely"?....generous strike zone.
Some pitches that weren't even close being called a strike.

There's a stat....:
Postseason games Verlander has pitched that were "clinching" ones?
0.46 ERA....the best in MLB history.

Houston up 1-0....
No way this is close to over yet...
(But Verlander is dealing, and he's still keeping the curve as a hidden weapon..)

it needed to be 0.00 last night. i was with john smoltz yesterday in that it was a game seven for the astros. i don't know how they're going to get it done tonight. i just hope they can. and the LA crowd? a cheap imitation of that houston one.

Gambler allegedly wins $14 million World Series bets . . . and he’s letting it ride tonight
RJ Bell, an oddsmaker who also provides betting lines to the Associated Press, claims that a mystery gambler made an $8 million bet on last night’s Game 6 and won. Bell says he picked the first five games of the Series before that to get to is current total. Which, after last night, stands at $14 million.
And he’s letting it ride tonight.

5-0 Houston.......
Maybe they should've brought in Kershaw?
(ESPN will say its because Darvish is still traumatized from the gesture)

I can't believe the lack of confidence in McCullers here. Just unreal.
Go Kershaw. Shut em down, big fella!

So the Astros and Cubbies have both won titles after at least 1 100+ loss season(s).in recent memory. Maybe TR knew what he was doing all along.

I know. If a guy wasn't posting here in this thread every night, he clearly wasn't paying attention to the baseball playoffs!
The 'Stros are a great team. I was pulling for the Dodgers, but these guys can play. The Cubs, the Dodgers, the Stros. There are some really good teams out there.
I hope we don't have to hear all about the hurricane now and how much Houston deserved this because of that.

Re: ***official MLB post-season thread***
he said after the game that he knew the day before that he didn't have it. i was pulling for the astros and i was hoping that they'd have the early hook while watching him pitch. he was right-he didn't have it. gutted it out and got them got them some outs unscathed. morton was dealing at the end though. i'm glad for the city of houston-you could really see the difference in the fan base last night. down 4-0 to kershaw and that crowd wouldn't let their team die-no matter how bad it looked. last night it there was the attempt by the LA crowd-but it just didn't have the oomph in the stands that was in houston.

I don't know if it would've made a difference..but when Kershaw started loosening up/ stretching during the 1st inning, Roberts should've brought him in for the top of the 2nd.weimy froob wrote: ↑Thu Nov 02, 2017 10:15 amnow i know how houston could win a game seven. the dodgers don't start kershaw. glad that they won though.
I'm glad Houston won..but I wonder how it would've played out if he came in.

Re: ***official MLB post-season thread***
I'm currently watching the Rockies vs Dodgers, as it is a huge series in the playoff push. tied 2-2...Dodgers in the 7th just pinch hit for 3 batters in a row, including Dozier...
And here's why the Twins are at such a disadvantage. Dozier is a guy a team like the Twins rely on...in LA, he's batting 8th, and just got pinch hit for, simply because LA has the firepower to do so.
A guy who the Twins would lean on heavily, even in a down year, is batting 8th, and in the crunch, he gets taken out.
Puig PH for him and hit a 3 run HR, btw.
