Hey. Anyone know how long "a relatively short time span" is according to the mods?
Asking for a friend....
May want to ask the mods directly on this one. I doubt anyone else really knows. Some may claim they know, but they really don't.

The interface here is weird and takes a bit to get the hang of. Just make sure to type your comment outside of the “quote” wrapper so it doesn’t get lost with the past you’re quoting.
Hope you get out of pergatory soon.

from the Main Board:
Why did Rube Chat devolve...?
Maybe because new guys can't get in? No new blood.
Ok, I'm older, I shave my head ("choice baldness"), and a tad overweight--but I've also been waiting weeks to get out of the Newb Zone.

Finna keep posting here til I get real access....
Moses posted in the "Fire in the Sky" thread:
"We should keep our ears to the stars just in case someone does communicate, but the distances are just too vast to travel. If any civilization did figure out some way to do it, we'd most likely see evidence of it at some point."
to sentence 1: too far to travel in ways that we humans currently understand
to sentence 2: (respectfully) no logic to that statement. If I were from far away and saw how this planet behaves, there's no way I'd pull over and check in. Probably just blow past and hope for a wayside or gas station coming up soon somewhere else.
I think it's arrogant to think human knowledge and understanding is the absolute pinnace of existential being--that what we know is all there is to know. There's a whole lot we have yet to learn, and I also think that the more we do learn, the closer we move to life-changing -- existence changing -- revelations.

Bold strategy, squatcher. I look forward to your eventual acceptance or very public execution. Whatever happens I’m here for it.

re: Eroder's Arby's Froobs post
Good sammich. And yes, you can get cheese sauce.
Arby's Super used to slap, with shredded lettuce, sliced tomato, french dressing (or something red) and a sesame seed bun.
Then it became a "secret menu" item and shrunk it waaaay down. Not nearly as good. Still, good eats abound at Arby's.
(insert your favorite gif here....which I cannot.)

I don't think anyone thinks that such as me for instance. I am 100% certain there are other intelligent beings out there - I just don't think they've visited Earth at least not in any recent time.

and btw: I don't think it was Arby's sauce (great stuff!) b/c it was sweeter and lighter. Boy, I miss those sammiches.
