Fran made it to the NCAA Tournament 7 times in his 15 seasons, and ended up with 297 wins -- most of any Hawkeye coach (= longevity). But . . . he never made it past the 2nd round. Even Dr Tom, who lost in the 2nd round several times, had an Elite Eight (that should've been a FF) and two Sweet Sixteens.

If schools like Wisconsin and Iowa State can be successful, there's no reason we can't. If we just keep at least some of the top in-state players here, we're a mid-level/better B1G program most years.

Why would DeVries leave WVU after one year of a 5-year deal? I know he's from Iowa, but don't the Hawkeyes have to buy out his WVU contact? After just giving Fran money to leave?

Big time programs don't give a shit about money. Win and the money takes care of itself.
Maybe DeVries doesn't want out. But Iowa is cooking something up. You don't fire a guy after 15 years for one bad season.

Man, I remember the outrage by some here when I said the Johnson hire was terrible. I hated this hire from the day it happened.

What a fucking disaster of a hiring. There isn’t one notable moment in the Johnson era. You could have literally just skipped it (Which I mostly did) and you missed absolutely nothing.

They need to get someone with a proven track record. They just spent the 12 years on guys that had no experience that they thought would grow into something.

If they hand this thing over to Saunders, I am going to need another barf bag.

I won’t freak out too bad no matter who it is. College basketball kind of sucks now with all this paying players, portal shit. The quality took a big enough hit over the years with teams never staying together to form great teams because of leaving school early to go pro but now everyone just jumps from team to team and you don’t even get to watch these teams grow anymore.
