Is a nasty recession imminent?

Post by Voltron »

I've seen it said that the markets hate instability and wild uncertainty. It seems that tariffs, trade wars, loss of consumer protections, mass layoffs of civil servants, etc all contribute to making things more unstable and wildly uncertain.

Factor in leaders who are more concerned with grifting than they are helping people, and it just seems like the perfect storm for a nasty recession.

I sold everything a couple of weeks ago except for gold.

I think it's going to get worse for most people before it gets better

In fact, it may never get better for most people

No doubt about it - the crypto bros got a little over their skis. Got so excited they didn't even think about things like tariffs and the destabilization of America and the world

From AI (Will there be a recession in 2025?):
Predicting a recession with absolute certainty is very difficult. Economic forecasts are influenced by numerous and often unpredictable factors. However, here's what current economic indicators and expert opinions suggest:

Concerns among CFOs:
A recent CNBC survey of CFOs indicates a significant level of pessimism regarding the economy.
A substantial percentage of these CFOs anticipate a recession by the end of 2025.
Many of those that forsee a recession, predict it to be mild to moderate.
Varying Economic Outlooks:
It's important to note that economic forecasts vary. While some experts predict a recession, others hold more optimistic views.
Factors such as inflation, interest rates, and geopolitical events can significantly impact the economy's trajectory.
Factors to consider:
The effects of current monetary policies, and how they will play out in the future, is still something economists are observing.
Geopolitical situations can cause unexpected economic shifts.
In summary, there's a heightened sense of concern among financial professionals regarding a potential recession in 2025. While it's not a certainty, it's a possibility that's being closely monitored.
