They are in one of the two major NCAA conferences, with massive TV money rolling in every year. Where does all the money go? Local media loves to go after the U looking for scandals. Someone needs to get into the Athletic Department's books and figure out what the hell is going on over there.
I wouldn't be about someone leaving either, but agree with your thoughts - but if you sign and extension, at least stay one fu king year

Sounds like Danny Collins will be named the new DC. Collins is only 32, but he was interim DC last year for the bowl game, and he's coached with Fleck since WMU and he's been the Safety coach for 3 years. Pretty easy argument to make that Safety has easily been the strongest defensive position during Fleck's time here.

They've also made Mariano Sori-Marin the new Linebackers coach.

Interesting. We have churned out Safety's that is for sure.

The only issue I have with this is that losing Hetherman not only saved them a ton of money due to simply promoting guys already on staff (who'll both get raises, but it'll be nowhere near what Hetherman would have gotten), but due to the buyout, they are making a pretty good chunk of money. That's well over a million dollars that should go right back into the football program. But knowing how they operate over there, they'll probably take that money and give it to some art student with nose piercings and lime green hair to build a giant sculpture of two turtles humping.

Sucks, but not real surprising. He was teammates with Arizona DC Nick Rallis and he's been really highly regarded for what he's done since he got the DL job. Probably felt he should have gotten the DC job here.

Gophers had some recruits at the Gophers-Wisconsin hockey series over the weekend, which saw both games sellout and had over-flowing student sections. Can't hurt I guess.
