Stomach didn't want anything but gummy bears and m&ms and even that wasn't very appetizing fo real. Not sure how some people can eat pizza and bacon doing these things.Voltron wrote: ↑Mon Sep 02, 2024 6:42 pmHell of a run, Miley! Re: Any Outdoor Runners?
Yes, fellers, last Saturday was the 1st 100ish K (I say ish because i couldn't find the charging cord for my dead watch) since race day 2 weekends ago. With no watch, I Just zoomed around for 16 and a half hours beginning at 1:15 PM as I was having a hard time working up the motivation to get started earlier. After gladly seeing the Badgers get beat down for 1 half, we do the usual Cedar Lake Trail to Downtown to the Ska for several laps before we hit 7ish hours which means it's Cub's time. Was originally planning on buying only 2 2 liters, but when every single one costs $2.99 individually and Royal Crown products are on sale at 3 for $5, well, we grab 1 RC Cola, 1 Sunkist Strawberry Lemonade, and 1 Sunkist Berry Lemonade. We consolidate the Berry Lemonade into the 2 smaller bottles and head back for endless loops around the Ska, hiding the other 2 liter bottles behind a rock and some bushes. Well after darkness sets in, it's time for some caffeine and so we ingest a good portion of the Cola. Meanwhile, I spied with my little eye what I believe were some nervous skinny dippers, though I unfortunately cannot confirm given the darkness. It's getting close to 4 AM, I'm seeing only 1 or 2 groups of people per lap, and the Cola still has not been finished, so we end up getting a good trap burn from carrying the 2 liter of Strawberry Lemonade and the rest of the RC as we head home. Hit home round quarter to 6, hop in the shower and attempt to sleep before the Twins game. Zero hours of sleep were tallied.

Yes, fellers, next ultra is 8 weeks out so we're about to start our grind in 10 minutes and won't be back til around 10:30 in the AM. Not sure what I'll pick up at Cub's this time. Thinking maybe some Barq's sounds good, bad gas and all. Say hi to me if you're around the Ska! Wearing all gray.

A tad chilly, Weimy, especially as the wind really started picking up overnight. A sweatshirt and sweatpants were enough to keep me in good spirits though, as was this.weimy froob wrote: ↑Sat Oct 12, 2024 6:06 pmhave fun. great weather for it.Miley Cyrus wrote: ↑Sat Oct 12, 2024 5:54 pm Yes, fellers, next ultra is 8 weeks out so we're about to start our grind in 10 minutes and won't be back til around 10:30 in the AM. i just got my exercise for the day and it's real windy right now. sweatshirt and shorts worked though. i don't think i've ever seen a two liter RC before. that's a pop from my youth. good to see you got your work in and it sounds like you're in good shape. at least the feet are.Miley Cyrus wrote: ↑Sun Oct 13, 2024 11:27 amA tad chilly, Weimy, especially as the wind really started picking up overnight. I guess they turned the drinking fountains off just recently so made sure to grab a liter of H20 in addition to the RC cola, Cherry 7up (my dumbass didn't read the label and I ended up getting the zero sugar variety) and Squirt. Think I probably did about 15 loops. Maybe. Didn't end up drinking a lot of that carbonated stuff (3 for 5 or 2.99 each...gotta go with the value) so I just farmer walked the 4-5 liters back home. Side note: need to consider taking Immodium before going out. Got a little dicey a couple of times.Spoiler:

Pavement never causes any issues for me, but the uneven terrain in more remote areas can be blister city, especially with ill fitting shoes. Hopefully the temps stay above freezing through at least November before one has to worry about the sugar water becoming solid. Would like to avoid becoming an indoor runner for as long as possible.weimy froob wrote: ↑Sun Oct 13, 2024 1:15 pmi just got my exercise for the day and it's real windy right now. sweatshirt and shorts worked though. i don't think i've ever seen a two liter RC before. that's a pop from my youth. good to see you got your work in and it sounds like you're in good shape. at least the feet are.Miley Cyrus wrote: ↑Sun Oct 13, 2024 11:27 amA tad chilly, Weimy, especially as the wind really started picking up overnight. Re: Any Outdoor Runners?
I did the big Mankato marathon this morning. Hell of a race. I got caught puking after the finish line by a course Marshal so had to go to the medical tent for a quick eval. They gave me an under-the-tongue pill for nausea and sent me on my way. I had chugged a chocolate milk and a green apple Gatorade right after I finished so I think that caused the puking.
Time for MAGA, boys. Let's have fun.

Good job, son. I like ice cream before a run, but anything dairy after 5 miles just doesn't appeal to me. Straight up sugar water for me.Voltron wrote: ↑Sat Oct 19, 2024 4:42 pm I did the big Mankato marathon this morning. Hell of a race. Thanks Miley! Yeah it seems a bit part of the battle is getting in tune with your stomach and keeping it happy. Anything over 26 seems bonkers! Around 20 is when my legs start feeling a little weak and beat up.Miley Cyrus wrote: ↑Sat Oct 19, 2024 6:04 pmGood job, son. Gonna be another overnight run tonight, fellas! Hitting up the Gopher game followed by dinner then we let the tummy settle before letting 'er rip around the Ska! Starting out nourishing myself with some Squirt that I didn't need during my last adventure. We'll see what Cub's has available once a refill is needed.

Fun it was, Weimy! Forgot the Squirt but managed with a 2 liter of Code Red and Grape Crush. Overnight was a little chilly but not unbearable. Would normally be OK to wear shorts and a T with the Temps in the upper 50s as was the case today, but that wind had some BITE to it even with the sun out. 2 more training runs before the main event, so let us pray we don't have to start Treadmill Chat up until at least December.weimy froob wrote: ↑Sat Oct 26, 2024 4:26 pmhave fun.

Does runner's high come and go early on in that, and then euphoria and other things move in after that?

Think I'm immune to this "runner's high" everyone talks about. I'm bipolar so my head's already a bit screwy. Anyways, my mood is a steady "ho hum low grade whatevs, brah" kinda vibe when I'm doing these things.Voltron wrote: ↑Tue Oct 29, 2024 3:53 pmDamn man, 62 miles worth of laps around Maka Ska! I know the area. you going to be running near lake Marion? they have a path that is pretty long. pretty sure it doesn't go around the whole lake, but it's pretty long. my grandson had a soccer game real near it. lots of pathways in that city. the 7up Shirley Temple? I've had one of those before. not too shabby.Miley Cyrus wrote: ↑Fri Nov 08, 2024 5:07 pm Chance of showers tomorrow afternoon means we doin an overnight run commencing in a couple of hours! Well Weimy, twas a bit chilly overnight, but nothing some long underwear and a puffer jacket can't fix. Ended up starting with some Squirt followed by Mello Yello then Cherry Coke. Was planning on going further south in Lakeville, but missed my turn going east down Difley and before I knew it, I found myself in Eagan. Pulled out the phone and pillaged the 7 or so miles to the Cub's off Cedar Ave. Got the Cherry Coke at mile 30ish then it back home.weimy froob wrote: ↑Fri Nov 08, 2024 5:15 pmI know the area. you going to be running near lake Marion? they have a path that is pretty long. pretty sure it doesn't go around the whole lake, but it's pretty long. my grandson had a soccer game real near it. lots of pathways in that city. the 7up Shirley Temple? Nah, this Cub's was about 2.5 miles directly south of that in Apple Valley. Cub's in Apple Valley wasn't open 24 so that wasn't an option. Wore the Twins winter hat from a giveaway about a few years ago and some gloves, indeed.weimy froob wrote: ↑Sat Nov 09, 2024 3:56 pmin apple valley? Another epic and SUCCESSFUL run around the Ska with just 2 weeks to go until the next race. 8 16.9 oz Dews were housed and they couldn't get much colder without being solidified. The pooches were out, the winter coats were widespread, and gosh darnit, that crisp air felt amazing. Some nausea from miles 10-20, but she passed and we conquered. Might have to buy some hand warmers to line the coat pockets to prevent the fluids from freezing when we head back out in 4 weeks.
