Just chiming in on the Melo thing.....anyone here say that Melo wasn't purely about brand and stats is a moron. He could have waiting in the offseason with Denver to simply leave to NY, but because he wanted the most money and destination, he and his agent knowingly gutted all of the Knicks assets to eventually be paired with Amare. I didn't bring up his crippling contract because KG actually put in the work. He never got hurt, played both ends.....never got fat in the offseason. Melo had great numbers, but the guy was physically and mentally soft. KG was never either, again....exact opposite.
I definitely agree on the court, but you chided Melo for wanting the most money out of the Knicks, yet it was KG wanting the most money that literally led to the lockout. I just thought those 2 contradicted each other.
I agree with everything else you said though, and I've met KG personally a few times through my old employer and he's always been a cool guy it seems so I'm not trying to dawg him by any means.

This thread has been hijacked... so I’ll chime in I hate Melo... but he is a HoFer. At one point in his career he was the leagues most lethal scorer with an array of crazy post moves. However he also was completely uninterested in the other facet of the game in playing defense. A me first player who didn’t care about winning only padding his stats.
While the negatives certainly should hurt him the stats will get him in.

I can see why you see it as a contradiction....but for me, KG's play warranted the most money. Nothing Melo did after Syracuse deserved gutting a team. And I'll be honest, I want the guys to ask for the most money. I think that's the only way to best maintain competitive balance throughout the entire league. It scares me about the future of the league that there is so much money for these guys to make in endorsements and side businesses, that they could view taking steep pay reductions in their basketball salary as a way to continue stacking teams.

The Miami Heat have acquired a second-round pick (44 overall) in the 2019 NBA Draft from Atlanta in exchange for a future conditional second-round pick and cash considerations.
I expect Miami to move as much dead weight as possible. This could be to attach to a bum or two.

The Brooklyn Nets are holding internal talks about whether they should move forward with signing Kyrie Irving if Kevin Durant doesn't join him as a package deal, according to Brian Lewis of the New York Post.
Other teams have backed off pursuing Irving due to how his situation with the Boston Celtics played out.
The Nets could instead re-sign D'Angelo Russell at a cheaper contract than would be necessary to sign Irving.
Brooklyn has almost $68 million in cap room if it renounces Russell, $46 million after his cap hold.
Adrian Wojnarowski reported similarly.
“If they don’t get a second star, it will be interesting to see if Brooklyn wants to have Kyrie Irving as a solo act," said Wojnarowski. "That didn’t go so great in Boston last year. So we’ll see if Brooklyn is still following through on just Kyrie Irving because if they don’t take Kyrie Irving, they can just bring back D’Angelo Russell at a lower number. Younger player.”
