I read an article that says the league would force the Falcons to forfeit draft picks. Source said it’s unlikely the Vikings will be compensated.

IF they take away their first round pick, it would be worse for them and half good for MN - they move up one spot.

My source is telling me Atlanta will give their 2nd rounder to MN and be allowed to keep first round pick. Stay tuned

Their 2nd rounder is pick 43. We sent pick 42 to Houston in the deal to get 23. So basically we recoup our investment in that move for this year. If this happens.

They basically goaded Kirk into saying Minnesota was loserville USA and how wonderful it is to be in a winner town.

He then freely admitted that it was great to be in a place where he felt everyone was on the same page for once and how it was a dream come true being in Atlanta.

Say the NFL just gives us the 8. Free and clear. (They won’t, but play along).

According to old school draft value charts, 8+ 11 is 2650 points. Pick 3 is 2200 points. So that trade gives vale of 450 points or equivalent to the 45th pick in the draft (mid-2nd round). Is that enough extra for the QB tax this year?

8+23 Is 2160 points. 40 points shy of the 3, or equivalent to a late 4th round pick. So 8+23+2025 3rd should be enough, not accounting for QB tax.

If you prefer the newer Rich Hill chart, it’s even better for us. 8+11 is 766 points. 3 is 514 for a value of 252 points, or almost exactly the value of pick 22. 8+23 is 651 points, or a value of 137 points; about pick 43 in the second round.

The Rich Hill chart says we should have no problem trading up to 3 with our existing 11 and 23, actually (603 points, still giving 89 points of value; a late second rounder).

But this is all just fun and games for us. The charts mean little when franchise QBs are at stake. But you have to think that if we did somehow get 11 and 8, that we would not need to attach another first to get to 3.

Last year it happened right before the draft. Literally as the draft began the news broke that the NFL made the Cardinals give the Eagles draft compensation.


My guess is any punishment doled out has already been decided and both parties have been notified. The NFL doesn’t want a bunch of talk about it, so they bury it right before the draft.

I have to assume that the draft compensation penalty will have to be correlated to the size of the contract so this would be the biggest comp yet.

This draft isn’t great,

I rather use the picks on top end talent.

You are going to have to use at least two of these picks if not all 3 to move into the top 3 if you want Maye anyway. IF I have one one these picks left after getting my QB, i’m drafting the best D player I can get.

We are not getting a 1st round pick from ATL however.
