My thought as well. I think it is to position ourselves to keep our 2025 1st rounder but also making a play at a QB.

According to the current chart for trade value (not the old Jimmy Johnson one), those two picks sum to 2010 points which comes to pick 3.5 ish.

I don't know if the Pats or Cardinals would trade that far down for that but this is a smart move. It's certainly enough for the chargers according to the chart (but bidding wars happen).

The Vikings want to trade up but they know that it will require another first. But next year's first might be top 5 if they are starting Darnold or a rookie QB so if they can use 11 & 23 to move up and protect next year's first, that's a huge win.

This is getting super exciting! Rumors flying this morning about Chicago keeping Fields... Might be a smokescreen to raise his trade value (more than likely), but this gives us ammo to move way up. And if the Pats like McCarthy they could probably take him at #11 while we take Maye at #3. Maye has worked with McCown in the past.

This is a huge move and explains why Darnold wasn't sounding like an aggressive back up in his presser.

So now the Vikings have picks No. 11 and 23 in the first round. If they want to make an aggressive move up for a QB, they're in better position to do it without giving away years of first-round picks.

Options a plenty now... ask the Chargers about 5 knowing you have two first rounders.. 5 + 37 for 11 + 23 plus something else... draft value wise Vikings need to add about 220 points.

Might be chargers 3rd and 4th versus their second. That's close enough for 11 and 23.

I don't think you wait... It is no guarantee you can move up draft day. You don't make this move without something else in mind. We don't have depth, why move a 2nd rounder to just see how the board falls? Why risks future capital to just hope..
