I'll go first. I never liked Halo. Sure it's a "tight shooter", one of the first.. but I dislike everything else about it. The setting, characters and campaign missions. I have no nostalgia for the series and only ever played the first with friends.

I think it was because it was the first console shooter that was as good or even better than then the FPS' on PC. Halo 2 also led the way with online multi-player on the original Xbox. That was a huge deal. Halo 3 kind of perfected the original concepts of 1 and 2.

Since then it hadn't quite been the same. Halo doesn't hold the same cache it had back then.

You're probably right. I absolutely agree it's probably the first great multiplayer console shooter after Goldeneye.. it absolutely broke the mold in that sense.

Vi might be better. Vi fucking rocks and has really original and unique game design. Some of the best music in video game history. So does CT though. CT has better writing I think.

Both of those games still hold up. Made in the golden era of RPGs. Even if it's not your genre Chrono Trigger is still worth a look. It's pretty inviting still.

4 was definitely better than 5 though. I feel like 5 was kind of unfinished. Like there should've been a lot more in the middle of the story.
The heist stuff just really felt like they left a lot on the table.
