This looks to be one of the easiest non-conference schedules this program has had in handful of years and yet starting 2-5 is a real possibility.

But he is one of us... Well he was a traitor when he when to Northwestern but then he transferred home and all is well... Boy do I miss the teams of the early 90's. They weren't amazing but they won some big games and they sure were fun to watch. That secret scrimmage sure dumped a bucket of water on any optimism.

I was ripped so bad by Gopher fans for not liking the hire when it happened.
He’s shown absolutely NOTHING. I don’t know one single thing you can like about him since he’s become HC here.
The program is completely buried.
Who even pays attention to it at this point? Nothing more exciting than a game at the barn with 1K in attendance.

They won’t win more than 5 games in the B10 this year.

Gophers played Macalester (D3) last week winning 97-73.
Macalester guard Caleb Williams of Wild Rose, Wis., led the Scots with a huge performance: 41 points on 14 of 31 shooting.....He should be on the Gophers!

Blowing a 20 point second half lead and now we’re clinging on for dear life, this program..

Re: 2023-24 Season Thread
Out scored 31-9 to end the stretch, no field goal in the final 6 minutes. Yea I’m done with Johnson. Another tough year in the big 10 is coming, no great recruits to get excited about in the future, there’s no momentum with this program

Take it easy. Obviously it's a horrible way to lose again and inexcusable, however, would they have ever been led a game last year against same caliber team? Let's Play 5 or 10 minutes before we make any decisions on what this team will be.
I didn't see any of it, but did you see anything positive?

As if we needed any additional evidence that Ben Johnson was handed a job he didn't deserve, the last Gophers possession (and frankly pretty much everything in the last 10 minutes) should all be filed under "fireable offenses".

This one didn't age well for the BJ apologists.
Gopher's 15 turnovers to Mizzu's 8 was the difference.
Garcia led the team in scoring but was 4-12 from the field.

The Gophers owned the boards, but turnovers and steals killed them. Plus 12/17 from the line didn't help.

That’s a pretty low bar to set, comparing this years team to last years disaster. Also, I went to mizzou for undergrad so I follow that program closely. They lost two starters from last year to the nba and other key contributors to other leagues. They were a good team last year but are going to take a step back this year. I’d be surprised if they make the ncaa tourney, the NIT is more likely. Blowing that kind of lead at home against what’s to be an average team is unacceptable.hategreenticemase wrote: ↑Fri Nov 17, 2023 6:07 amTake it easy. I didn’t watch the whole game, just tuned in for the final few minutes so can’t accurately comment on your last point but in general a competent coach should be able to stem a 31-9 run by a team.

Re: 2023-24 Season Thread
The dumbest thing about a tweet like this is who even cares if they did end up winning? Does it erase the absolute garbage he’s been since getting the job? Maybe tweet something like this after a really good season or something but after a few horrible seasons and winning a game in Nov is about as dumb as it gets.
There is a very low bar in MN and this tweet proves that.

Ben Johnson is a nice guy....he is completely incapable of running a division 1 basketball team and needs to be fired sooner than later.

It’s up to you, Ben.
It’s pretty easy at the U. All he needs to do is have a mediocre year and he will be given another 3 years to suck.
