Fiala disappeared again in the playoffs like he always does. For his career:

Playoffs: 38 GP 10 G 11 A (0.55 PPG) -13 and 40 PIM
Reg Season: 488 GP 147 G 208 A (.727 PPG) +19 and and only 269 PIM

Also it can't be argued they jettisoned Fiala to keep Dumba even though I agree Dumba and/or Spurgeon can go.

You have no way of knowing how Fiala does last year in the playoffs on the Wild's roster. And the mistakes Dumba made. Bad penalties. Fiala and Boldy were on fire. It's an easy decision. Here we are a year later looking for a proven scorer.

We kind of already do:

MIN Playoffs TOT 17 GP 4 G 5 A (0.52 PPG) -10 and 28 PIM
MIN Playoffs 2022 6 GP 0 G 3 A (0.5 PPG) -5 and 16 PIM

And we saw nothing from the Wild last year in the playoffs that would suggest Fiala would have finally not disappeared in the post-season.

Also I'm not defending Dumba in the least, but he's not why they shipped Fiala.

We've never agreed on Fiala. You wanted to trade him early on. I think Bill got more and we saw a glimpse of his abilities. We'll never agree on Fiala. But Fiala has more value than Dumba. They could've went to arbitration with Fiala. Paid him a 1 year deal less than $7.5 million(Current contract). And probably less than Dumba's $6 million. Dumba in a trade gets some value. Now he has no value. The assets from Fiala; Fabar and Olksen (sp) are good. But the GM is doing entirely the opposite this off season. He is tying up a RFA contract.

I never said they need to trade Fiala only that it was an option, and there's nothing to disagree on when it comes to his lack of production in the playoffs - that's an undisputed fact.

Also Dumba has nothing to do with Fiala.

I'm sure if I looked, when Fiala went 0 for 25, you wanted a trade. Regardless, Dumba and Fiala were the biggest roster spots for $6-7 Million. Dumba was the guy they kept. And Dumba rewarded them with nothing. Nothing is a trade. Dumba should've been traded years ago. Only a stubborn GM meathead thinks otherwise. Same way he is obsessing over Gustavfson.

So Sundquist signed a 1 year deal for $775K with the Blues. Didn't need him back either. What a disaster of an off season.

So, I look at Fiala's stats from last years playoffs. . He played in 3 games. Had 1 goal and 5 assists. 6 points.

Yeah, the Wild don't need a 3rd line center with size. For $775K

We have 14 points in 36 year old Pat Maroon.

I'm not losing sleep over this one The Psycho. Sundquist is not bad but hardly a guy that is going to make your team much better. I am a little surprised at how little he got from the Blues....

No where did I say Sunquist is a guy to put this team over the top. But he is a good 3rd line center at an affordable price. The Blues are in rebuild mode. But they still have good players. And their cap situation is worse. Why would they sign him?

This is the fifth or sixth example of a stubborn, ego freak GM doing things “His” way. An article I read said The 2 RFAs are getting roughly $4 million combined. There’s no way Gus even signs for less than 4 million. So that’s probably a guy who knows Billy Boy is low balling Gus. It’s ridiculous. And exactly the same as the Fiala situation.

Tony Deangelo just got waived. He’s a tough right handed adman at probably a cheap price.

Read an article somewhere saying that the Wild need to move on from Ryan Hartman as a top 2 line center and give Rossi a shot. The thought is that although Hartsy has performed admirably on that top line it's time to see what Rossi can do if the Wild are serious about taking the next step. Putting Rossi on the 3rd line won't help much because he needs to play with someone who can finish and guys like Moose and Freddy are not those guys. I think this is a make or break year for the youngster and if he can't perform at this point then it's time to move on...

I've never seen a player miss so many Grade A chances as Hartman has. He is no where near a top 6 player. Only reason he's still on the roster is his contract.

Players that need top go: Hartman, Folino, Merrill, Gologoski and Spurgeon. But I doubt they can find any takers for the shrimp and his ridiculous contract.

I truly believe Bill could've improved the team by trading Gus before the draft. He improved it with the Fiala trade. For the long run. The team is worse now than it was when the season ended. And that's with keeping Gus.

LOL...our liberal friends will deny it and just shrug their shoulders. Then they'll say it doesn't matter because Hunter isn't employed by the White House and Co. Then they'll scream "WHADDABOUT DONALD!!"

So, you never admitted being wrong on Fiala disappearing last playoffs. He had a pretty good year in LA. Wouldn't ya type?

Billy sure has made the team better by trading for a guy who should retire.

I'll make a bet with anyone that Reeves has more points than Maroon.

Minnesota has officially signed Gustavsson to a three-year, $11.25MM contract, per a team announcement. The deal carries a cap hit of $3.75MM and will carry him to unrestricted free agent status in 2026. Per CapFriendly’s projections, the Wild now have $1.64MM in cap space with a minimum roster of 20 players, and they still have RFA defenseman Calen Addison to sign.

Filip Gustavsson's salary is $4,250,000 and his cap hit is $3,750,000 for the 2023-24 season. He is a 25 year old goaltender who was born on Jun. 7, 1998. He was drafted 55th overall by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the 2nd round of the 2016 entry draft. He has signed 3 contracts worth a total value of $15,650,000. Over a career that spans 3 seasons (with at least 1 NHL GP), he has a total of 66 GP and 5 playoffs GP. He will be a UFA at the end of the 2025-26 season when he is 28 years old.

He'll be traded at next years deadline. Bill low balled him the entire off season. Why couldn't this deal get done right away?

Gus probably gets traded next season at the deadline.

When Bill signed Flurey to a 2 year deal last year. He thought Jasper would be ready in 2024. But, with Gustavson being better than anyone ever imagined, now Bill is stuck with too much cap space in 2 goalies.
