The difference is the Wild's options are limited because of the dead cap hit.

If I'm the GM I play guys like Walker and Beckman instead of an old, tired Kessel. Just my opinion.

From what I've read-which isn't much-on Athletic it seems Addison wants more than the Wild are offering-obviously. Being in cap hell limits what they can offer-obviously. But I think Addison camp thinks they're worth more than what Wild can theoretically offer. I also think the Wild have a much lower opinion of him-like he's worth minimum/year salary low opinion.

There's not really a lot new out there to read on this situation that I've seen anyway-which tends to mean both sides are working toward a solution.

Changed the thread title so now we can talk about the pre-season! Doesn't appear there will be more than a few lineup changes from last season. Two biggest talkers IMO as a new season starts is will Marco Rossi FINALLY take the next step and be a solid NHL forward, and will Brock Faber be able to step into a top 4 defensive spot and play well enough to remain there all season.

Down to two more years of salary cap hell!

I bet strongly that option 2 fills the bill. Not so sure about Marco. Keep in mind, I was 'singing' Rossi's praises early last year (or sometime) because he looked like he had a pulse out there for a period... Still, though, I think Faber is a fixture for the next decade. We shall see...

Wild defeat the Avs 4-3 in the preseason openah! Sammy Walker (he's from Edina) tallies two goals and an assist, and young Jesper Wallstedt made 43 saves for the win!

It was a 2 on 0 breakaway for Sammy and Vinnie.....Sammy slid it to Vinny and was probably figuring Vinnie would slide it back for an easy hat trick but the selfish Minnetonka alum decided to take the shot.
