45 years of the Voyager Missions and NASA has found a way to keep all science instruments running another 2 years at least on Voyager 2. There was a risk of shutting one of the 5 instruments down for power reasons, but that has been mitigated for now. Voyager 1 suffered a instrument loss early in its mission so power isn't as needed at this point. It takes 22 hours for NASA signals to reach the craft.
