You either like baseball or you don’t. Nobody is going to be converted because of this or any other rule change.

I think they’re trying to make the game more appealing.
But lower their prices would work better.

This.
I don't follow baseball nearly as closely as I did 20 years ago. But this rule change isn't going to make me watch it more.
One rule change I heard about that I don't like is the new defensive shift rule.... Whats the point? So people got smart and realized Max Kepler was either going to strike out, hit a home run or pull a ground ball so why have 3 infielders over there? Bad hitters are now being rewarded because teams can't filed a better defensive alignment... Should be on the hitter to adjust. Would be like if the NFL said you must never be allowed to bring in a slot CB to cover a 11 personal offense. Its up to your LB to figure out how to cover Tyreke Hill in the slot.

They call me Jobber... I have learn to not only accept it, but embrace it.

Weird parody of the Rich Cock in baseball thread. Not very relevant because nobody cares about pitch clocks.

Re: Pitch clock in baseball, your thoughts
Not sure what the Killebrew shift is... But what I am saying if a defense wants to put their 7 fields on the grass between 1st and 2nd base they can. Up to the hitter to adjust and hit somewhere else. Now the new rule says they need 2 fielders between 3rd and 2nd and like only 2 are allowed in the dirt between 1st and 2nd. (something like that). Basically they are making a shift illegal. I think thats dumb. Hitters need to adjust. Thats like saying zone defense in basketbll is illegal.. everything should be man to man.witljon wrote: ↑Sun Feb 26, 2023 8:52 amAre you saying the Killebrew shift ruined baseball?mankatobjr wrote: ↑Sun Feb 26, 2023 8:30 amThis.

Harmon Killebrew was the first player they put the shift on (second baseman shifts between 2B and SS)mankatobjr wrote: ↑Sun Feb 26, 2023 9:03 amNot sure what the Killebrew shift is...witljon wrote: ↑Sun Feb 26, 2023 8:52 amAre you saying the Killebrew shift ruined baseball?mankatobjr wrote: ↑Sun Feb 26, 2023 8:30 am

Re: Pitch clock in baseball, your thoughts
Baseball has become extremely boring. Games take too long, and that's on the players. It shouldn't take 30-60 seconds between pitches. Get your ass in there and play ball.
Agreed on getting rid of the shift is stupid. That's on the hitters to adjust to. Drop down a bunt FFS.
How babied players are these days is borderline criminal (that goes for the NBA too). Especially the pitchers. You don't need to use 8 different pitchers every day.

Length of games often gets conflated with pace of play. Sad, really.

Didn't some exhibition game end on a called 3rd strike in the bottom of the ninth with runners in scoring position because of a pitch clock/batter set up delay?

Re: Pitch clock in baseball, your thoughts
They should have done it a long time ago. Same goes with visits to the mound and changing a pitcher.
The guy just warmed up, he does not need to WARM up again after he jogs to the mound.
Also, between innings. Get out there and fucking play. Not play catch for 3 minutes.

I bought 2 SRO tickets per game at $4 each for 11 Twins home games this season. Not bad for $88!

It won't affect the game at all, but it might affect my enjoyment of it. There were plenty of 2 hour games a generation or two ago. We'll never hit that number again due to TV commercials, but 2:30 games should be the norm.

If people want 2-hour games, then they should watch soccer. Outside of ET or a PK shootout, games last almost exactly 2 hours.

I was half watching a game yesterday while doing other things around the house, and I did notice a faster pace of play.
It was nice.
