I don't know. Charlie Daniels last year, Charley Pride this year. Maybe he can go after Jerry Reed next.

Johnson is a dead man walking IMHO but this latest potential dude isn't mediocre in the least.

When will St. Thomas keep their best talent!? Honestly, too bad for the program.. they find a really good player, he does well and transfers to a high major, blue blood-ish level program.

Two sport athlete.. played college football.SHAFA wrote: ↑Tue Apr 18, 2023 2:26 pmI got curious myself and was a little confused when ESPN had him listed as a senior with only one season. Then I found his page from 19-20 when he played for Idaho as a soph.
Dude went from being listed as 7', 247 lbs at Idaho to....6'11, 338 lbs this year.
...what the fuck.

I'm referring to the guard Payne.HeHateMe wrote: ↑Wed Apr 19, 2023 3:05 pmThey signed him to be an emergency big. No center was coming in here for quality minutes behind Garcia, Fox, Payne etc..

The Gophers just lost recruiting battles with Utah State and St. Bonaventure.

Not necessarily. Likely, the kid would be an end-or-the-bencher for the gophers, or a legitimate contributor for the school he picked.Hoop Dreams wrote: ↑Sat Apr 29, 2023 10:58 am The Gophers just lost recruiting battles with Utah State and St. Bonaventure.

Huh? Charles Pride would have been a for sure starter and Darius Brown was either a starter or 6th man.Bob Wiley wrote: ↑Sat Apr 29, 2023 3:16 pmNot necessarily. Any news on possible guards from the portal? Quite the buzz kill on the schools they are losing these players to. If they don't find at least one more guard it is going to be a long season.

At this pace, no chance Ben Johnson has a job after the season.

As it should be. Young Ben may some day become a good coach but he obviously is not ready for prime time....jffl_commish wrote: ↑Tue May 02, 2023 7:51 am At this pace, no chance Ben Johnson has a job after the season.

Sounds like NC State. I would have voted for the team with the worst uniform colors since I know mascots and uniform colors tend to be the running joke around here.

Hawkins is a solid pick-up.

If Hawkins can help improve the pace of play (fast break<- yes this is a thing) and knock down some threes from kick outs by Payne and Garcia it should be an improvement. The shooting and defense on the team was never good enough to win games in half court sets yet that was the hand they dealt themselves all last year.

Are they not supposed to try and fill the roster?

Re: 2023 Gopher Recruits
Solid pickup. Having Mitchell and Hawks both in place will help a lot.. hopefully they can play well and consistently well here. If they can't do that, can't imagine next year going well. Very excited to see what Cam Christie can do.
