Same dude out in Cambridge has well over half a dozen of these square body Chevy/GMC trucks.
I saw that too. Seems like he goes out to the Pacific Northwest and brings them back.

I love those square body GM trucks. My dad had a 1979 Chevy Scottsdale. Metallic blue, 350, full time 4wd, dual tanks. My favorite truck he ever owned.
That thing was SO cool looking.

If I recall, he eventually cracked the block around 100,000 miles and he basically gave it away to the mechanic. He should have put a new crate engine in it.

He then bought a brand new stripped down 1986 F250. Had to have been one of the last vehicles ever that could take leaded gas. That thing moved me to college in 1991 (with no AC and it was 95 degrees) after I had gone out and got really drunk the night before. That was NOT a pleasant ride, and dad knew damn well I was hungover.

It's so weird to think that engines back in the day were basically worn out around 100k miles. My truck has 165,000 and I expect it to go over 200k. When dad died, I took his 2002 F150 with 190,000 and drove it to 240,000 as a beater before selling it cheap.

That is boss as hell. I'd get it repainted though. Same colors. Don't change a thing.
It's been 32 years since one of MN's four major sports teams has been to the Championship/Superbowl.
Every single year is failure until we win one. 4 teams, 32 years. That's roughly 128 consecutive failed seasons.

Super common in pickups in other countries, where trucks are more utilitarian than here. I wish trucks in the US had those hooks.

My old man's old beater Scottsdale had them and I always wondered. Thanks, fellas.

First pickup I drove as a 12 year old was my parents 1979 Scottsdale. She was a good truck. Still never made me a Chevy guy.

Not sure if laws have changed or if it’s different in the metro but when I turned 15 I could drive legally with a farm permit.

Hole, If you are only going for summer use, and for utilitarian rather then for show, I'd suggest an early to mid (96) f 150 with a 6 cyl.(300 cu. In) Those engines are fantastic, or a 99-02 chevy 1500, with the 5.3 (327? Cu.in), both in 2 wheel drive. Don't be afraid of higher miles, it shows that it hasn't been sitting and seals and hoses won't be dried out so much. I've had that model Chevy (in4wd) and it was an excellent truck, know a few that have had those Fords, both with great luck, the one dude had well over 300k on same engine and automatic transmission.

Not sure if it's the same, but when I was younger, ND and Montana gave licenses at age 14.

I was so jealous of those farm boys that had the farm permits.

I enjoyed your question of why would this require a lot of work?

Ummm because it’s a POS 40 year old vehicle with a bunch of listed issues and probably many more that are waiting to pop up as soon as your cashier check clears.

You’re welcome.

Just want an old truck that runs.

I made up my own the venn diagram.

Runs = no work
Doesn’t run = work

Of course there’s “possibilities” being that it’s old it’s gonna have issues....

There’s also a possibility that you’ll get laid. But the Venn diagram came back as “my sources say no”.... with that! Badow!
