I always found Carl Eller's story an interesting one. He grew up in Winston-Salem, NC area, an area I lived in for a while. Like most African-American high school football stars, they had to go north to colleges like the University of Minnesota who had not only Eller, but Bobby Bell and Sandy Stephens on their roster. When the southern schools desegregated that marked the end of the U of MN being anywhere near a football power.

Did you notice the end of the clip #24 Larry Brune hugging Tommy Kramer? That was his only season in the NFL as a late round draft pick. But he was Tommy Kramer's teammate in college at RIce.

Shows ya how much confidence coaches had in their kickers. Bud chooses a gadget play instead of attempting a NINETEEN yard field goal (think the goal posts were still on the goal line then, but even if not it was still just 29 yards!).
A young, privileged Gus Munger went to many games at Met Stadium back during the Vikes glory years!

I was at that game. It was Bud grant day and he received a boat. I think Joey browner scored the only vikings TD on a fumble return. Blowout.

here's a game of the week involving "perhaps the best team in pro football." woulda, coulda, shoulda been SB champs that year--but they didn't have joe kapp as their QB. we'll never know if kapp could've got the job done. we do know that what they had couldn't.

Nice. I bought a couple of original works by former VIking Ed White. One is Mick Tingelhoff and the other Chuck Foreman. The Strongest Man in the NFL is a sensitive California hippie artist.
