Negative the trail has gone dry, Coyle has been stealth. If we don’t hear anything today/tomorrow assume they are going big fish hunting is my gut feeling

Apparently OSU had to get the police involved after a couple of dickbag fans threatened Liddell on Twitter after they lost

If it’s not Muss, Gates is my guy. I’m hoping it’s not Medved.

Still hearing from my sources Muss is target 1, 2 and 3 but since Coyle can’t interview him directly until seasons over he’s doing due diligence by interviewing others in case Arkansas wins tomorrow and have to wait another week. Also not a bad idea to have backup plan but backup plans could go off board with Gates a target at DePaul and Marquette and Smith at Utah. Things would have to go majorly wrong for Medved to get job

2 separate individuals with no ties or connections to each other, one guy has fed me some really accurate stuff before...3rd source said Coyle has eyes on someone else no one has mentioned yet but wouldn’t give me a name. More chatter today they said than last few days. They did say IU is doing background on Muss as well but he’s 5-6 down from their big game hunting list

Hypothetically, Texas terminates Shaka Smart after this latest meltdown. Do any of you great minds have any interest?

Yes. Fuck yes. He's the guy we should have had with pervy Teague.

He's automatically #1 on my list if available. No Teague connection anymore though.

Two take aways....

Texas ain't NO place for a brotha.

#2. Get that broad off the mic who announced that game!

3rd source just texted back and said now that he’s eliminated...Shaka was one of the mystery candidates so now Coyle might strike as Texas alumni are fed up and they’d waive the buyout if someone took him

Lowest paid coach in Big 12, outside of Cade Cunningham coming has he been that special since Underwood left?

Dead serious on the text...I live in Dallas the Twitter feed of boosters and fans that want him gone it’s rather comical. I doubt Shaka comes here but they were ready to run him out last year and Covid and the new hair saved him.

I’m not liking this name that just keeps popping up...Leon Rice from Boise State

If we end up with him he’s here 4 years before he’s replaced...cupboard is bare for next year in terms of talent and he’s going to take awhile to get recruits in here, he’s a maybe 6 years down road we are competitive but not sure he’s going to get that kind of time with fans. It’s why Coyle needs to go big game hunting.

Gopherhole people are throwing out Tony Bennett’s name at Virginia...don’t see him leaving and his salary has to be top 10 in country

Shaka hasn’t made it out of the first weekend of the NCAA tournament since 2010-2011 with VCU. I’m skeptical.

His name seems bigger than his game these days.

To be fair Texas is a coaching meat grinder as high $ impatient donors and fan base that thinks football is year round sport. Basketball at Texas is an after thought

Bennett would be sweet but ya I don't see it. I don't think this job is as desirable as some think. They couldn't land anyone after Tubby and the program was in better shape. It's a lot of grasping at straws imo by Minnesota people because "His dad coached here" etc.

They have to get this right. As I wrote before around the time when rumors of Pitino being fired. The wrong hire with virtually sink this program. They can't afford two lame duck coaches in a row. Many call Pitino the worst coach the Gophers have ever had.

Agreed that’s why I’m 50/50 on Gates as we already risked it with a coach that needed a lot of seasoning with Little Richie...think you have to go established Coach to put a charge in program as the apathy for this program is high right now. Selling tickets is going to be a huge problem as they likely are not great next year unless they pull rabbit out of hat and right coach can do some work in transfer portal. Hire the best guy as the wrong coach turns this into Gopher Hockey with Lucia at the end as they were bleeding fans even prior to Big 10 switch and they haven’t come back even with right coach (well covid too)

Mike Boynton didn’t do much until he recruited Cade Cunningham. He successfully recruited Cade Cunningham because he hired Cade’s brother as an assistant. Take that FWIW.

University of Minnesota athletic director Mark Coyle can now, if he chooses, more easily pursue Cleveland State's Dennis Gates, San Diego State's Brian Dutcher and Utah State's Craig Smith.

Two more potential Gophers candidates, Arkansas' Eric Musselman and Loyola-Chicago's Porter Moser, advanced to Sunday's second round against Texas Tech and Illinois, respectively.

Another one to watch is Dayton coach Anthony Grant, whose season ended Saturday with a loss in the NIT. Grant earned national coach of the year honors last season.

https://www.startribune.com/list-of-pot ... 600036802/

Porter would be an interesting, sneaky pick if Musselman isn't the guy imo.

Gates and Grant would be disappointing hires imo.

I still think it will be one of these guys: Smith, Medved or Gates

Shaka to Marquette would make more sense than to Minnesota.

Porter Moser I still can't figure out, he's got a really good team at loyola and they are (on paper) better for next year. He makes decent money. What's the draw to the U right now?

Medved with Dave Thorson in hand coaching the Gophers excites me from a local recruiting standpoint. Seeing Sid list Sam Mitchell over Medved is crazy!

With KevinBacon -- Boynton got Cade because Cade's brother is on staff. Pass on him.

If Muss is truly available and they can figure out the buyout somehow, I'd be ecstatic to land him. Just seems like it's so unrealistic.
