Re: *Wild Off-Season Chat*
It would seem the Wild (imho) have solidified 2C-4C but still need a real deal Holyfield 1C? Can't imagine they're planning on Rossi coming into to fill that void.

Obviously BG isn’t done building the roster for next season yet, but I’m not too impressed early on here. Still need to extend Fiala and Kap as well.

Guessing that Billy G is REALLY counting on Boldy to make an impact this season and Rossi perhaps late in the season or for sure next year...

He has to be thinking Boldy and Rossi but that's a huge gamble. Especially when KK is itching to leave if they don't get their shit together.Hornets wrote: ↑Fri Jul 30, 2021 11:51 amGuessing that Billy G is REALLY counting on Boldy to make an impact this season and Rossi perhaps late in the season or for sure next year...

Re: *Wild Off-Season Chat*
Wild and Fiala agree to a 1-year deal.
Am I wrong that it feels as if most of the roster is on 1-year contracts?

The key to the Fiala deal is that we still control his rights after this year, since he'll just be an RFA. I did think he would sign a much longer deal, though. However, this is probably the best for both parties. I view this guy as a perennial streaky 30+ goal scorer who can carry a team for a stretch moving forward. If they were to create a 'super line' with him and Thrill, 40+ goals isn't unrealistic. Nonetheless, good leverage for both parties.
Now, onto getting Kap signed. The 5/9 being floated around should hopefully get it done.

Agreed. Great contract for a solid veteran damn.
Time to trade Dumba. Frees up salary and He still has value.

Kirill is not signing for 5 years. And I also doubt he only gets 9 million. Otherwise he would have signed long ago already. Imo he is wanting no more than 3 years and at least 10 million per season.Angry Waters wrote: ↑Tue Aug 17, 2021 9:09 amThe key to the Fiala deal is that we still control his rights after this year, since he'll just be an RFA. Where's Wanger? He has the Wild winning multiple cups when they signed Parise and Suter.

Re: *Wild Off-Season Chat*
Maybe this is a dumb question, can the Wild structure a 5 yr contract with Kirill that has cap hits that vary...like 10m the first two yrs and then 7m the next two with the 5th year being for 11m?

Not sure about that but regardless how it is laid out the Wild are going to be in pretty big trouble cap wise for a few years....better hope that Boldy, Rossi, Addison and a couple other youngins can contribute sooner than later!NonprovincialMNFan wrote: ↑Wed Sep 01, 2021 1:00 pm Maybe this is a dumb question, can the Wild structure a 5 yr contract with Kirill that has cap hits that vary...like 10m the first two yrs and then 7m the next two with the 5th year being for 11m?

I'm pretty sure the NHL has rules against this. They average out years and money to have a consistent hit. It's not like the NFL that way.Hornets wrote: ↑Wed Sep 01, 2021 4:10 pmNot sure about that but regardless how it is laid out the Wild are going to be in pretty big trouble cap wise for a few years....better hope that Boldy, Rossi, Addison and a couple other youngins can contribute sooner than later!NonprovincialMNFan wrote: ↑Wed Sep 01, 2021 1:00 pm Maybe this is a dumb question, can the Wild structure a 5 yr contract with Kirill that has cap hits that vary...like 10m the first two yrs and then 7m the next two with the 5th year being for 11m?
I think you could do this as a cash flow payment thing if dude just wants more money sooner. But for the cap, I think it's a flat number.
Anyone know for sure?
Oh, and 5/$9M would be acceptable to this casual hockey froob.

Re: *Wild Off-Season Chat*
Yeah, that was my question....are the cap hits "flat" or can they vary.....thinking that if they could the wild would structure lower cap hits during the two years that zach/Sutter hit their max cap against us.Beef Supreme wrote: ↑Wed Sep 01, 2021 4:17 pmI'm pretty sure the NHL has rules against this. I also have no issue with the 5yrs for 9million contract. Sounds like a good compromise.
