Isn't Washington mathematically eliminated with the loss to Brooklyn yesterday? If Washington wins out and Brooklyn loses out, I think Washington still finishes one game behind. There are only six games left and Washington is 7 back, right?

Nope if Washington is within 4 games of the 8 seeded team in East they force a 3 game play in series.Silversword wrote: ↑Mon Aug 03, 2020 12:36 pm Isn't Washington mathematically eliminated with the loss to Brooklyn yesterday? Thanks - hadn't heard that. It's still going to be pretty close to impossible for this Washington roster. Might the Wolves actually catch a bit of dumb luck this year and get the 15th pick? When we made that trade, I was expecting us to get a low-20's pick in 2021.Sid Hartman wrote: ↑Mon Aug 03, 2020 1:37 pmNope if Washington is within 4 games of the 8 seeded team in East they force a 3 game play in series.Silversword wrote: ↑Mon Aug 03, 2020 12:36 pm Isn't Washington mathematically eliminated with the loss to Brooklyn yesterday? Wiggy is gone, Glen is selling the team, we're gonna land the 15th pick to pair with our high lotto pick... things are looking up for our Wolves! Why do I feel like I'm living in a 2-frame Ziggy comic and a giant finger is coming down in the second frame to flick us off the top of this mountain?

But you'll be left in the middle of nowhere!
To be fair, I haven't been "driving the bus", I am just disillusioned with the state of the team. That mid-year Hawks loss before we got D-lo just about did me in as a fan.

for me it's not about the loss of beasley - and it's not about the loss of our two first round draft picks. it's about the cumulative loss of all three of those things. watching beasley be so solid for us at the end of the year got me excited. his stretch of over 40% shooting from three was the second best in wolves history - just behind a similar stretch KAT had once. and, if they would be wise enough to go big, adding two of the top 15 amateur bigs in the world to our team seems like a really really great addition. that excites me more than booker. just how i see it.

and it's not just that he was shooting over 40% from 3, it's that he was shooting 40% from 3 on 8.2 ATTEMPTS PER GAME.somuchyummy wrote: ↑Thu Aug 06, 2020 7:58 amfor me it's not about the loss of beasley - and it's not about the loss of our two first round draft picks. it's about the cumulative loss of all three of those things. watching beasley be so solid for us at the end of the year got me excited. his stretch of over 40% shooting from three was the second best in wolves history - just behind a similar stretch KAT had once. and, if they would be wise enough to go big, adding two of the top 15 amateur bigs in the world to our team seems like a really really great addition. that excites me more than booker. just how i see it.

Re: ***Nets Pick Watch***
Thing is that Beasley is such a good fit with Towns and Russell no matter how we play offense. Great fit roster wise as he is restricted in a time where it's not likely he gets an over the top offer and he also is too good for us to low ball him where he turns down a long term deal. He plays angry with high motor and we obviously need a lot of that.somuchyummy wrote: ↑Thu Aug 06, 2020 7:58 amfor me it's not about the loss of beasley - and it's not about the loss of our two first round draft picks. it's about the cumulative loss of all three of those things. watching beasley be so solid for us at the end of the year got me excited. his stretch of over 40% shooting from three was the second best in wolves history - just behind a similar stretch KAT had once. and, if they would be wise enough to go big, adding two of the top 15 amateur bigs in the world to our team seems like a really really great addition. that excites me more than booker. just how i see it.
And let's face it. Even a legit new owner willing to spend is not likely to be spending enough to have 3 max guys and be able to fill out a competitive roster. Our way to a contender with Towns and Russell is likely one guy of Beasley's level and a lot of guys who are good values. The big decision to be made if we still suck will not be who to add to Towns and Russel, it will be how to cut bait on one or both. Us buying in to them now is about getting more guys around them that fill in what they do poorly and hoping it rubs off on them. Their weaknesses are no doubt what will hold us back. We need to know now if that can be mitigated, if they will change, or if we need to move on.
Great year to add those pieces. GREAT. 3 excellent picks in a crazy deep draft. A ton of legit players who will go undrafted. And in these weird times we can likely get really team friendly, team option deals on the 2nd and undrafted guys. Having a ton of young up and comers on long deals is just what we need. We do this right and we are set up for 10 different scenarios and have crazy flexibility to lean into any of them. Turning that opportunity down for a tripling down on flawed scorers is something I would never even consider.
