2021 will be horrific, but 2022 is looking interesting.

Jayden Pierre and Ryan Dunn are both visiting on Thursday for the Ohio State/MN football game. Both are studs and I think both are takes. Pierre is probably the #1 priority. I think Ben really wants to add a point guard to this class.

A five person class would definitely lay a foundation.

At least he is recruiting in state. That’s all everyone wanted.

This. Yes, we know the one and done recruits probably will not be coming here but if Ben can get a good stranglehold on that 2nd tier group each year then I think we'll all be happy. So far, so good!

Hopefully everyone can be patient this year as they are going to really suck. This first class could be interesting though.

I feel like I'm always the guy pissing in the Cheerios of this program, but I'm pretty confident Richard could have gotten the 9th best player in Minnesota if he wanted him. That doesn't mean the kid won't be good, but Johnson has yet to make a splash.

I saw Ryan James said in addition to Dunn and Pierre, Carrington, Payne, and 23s Winter and Chatman are due on campus tonight for the game.

247 Crystal ball has him going to Wisconsin. I'm surprised, he doesn't look like a typical Badger recruit.

Spoiler:
Just kidding.

This.

It's a great story and all but how good are any of these local kids they are locking up?

Doesn't seem like any of them are some extraordinary gets so far.

By my count we had 8 2022 scholarships available. We got commitments from these three top 250 recruits and we still have 5 scholarships available. No need to anoint Johnson as the next coming of John Calipari yet. Getting some MN kids to stay home may or may not bode well for the future. We'll see what he does with the last 5. 247 has us with 21 outstanding offers to non-committed guys, with three of the 21 having a "warm" designation (Dunn, Okpara, Pierre). If Ben can convince those three along with another two grad transfers, this class could be looking solid.

How many of these kids could Pitino have got? Would he have had much interest?

Just a couple years ago when most of us wanted Pitino gone the excuses from the homers was "He recruits so well" and all of a sudden the guy was a complete bum at recruiting.

Are any of these kids Coffeys, Oturus etc?

The one question is can Johnson even coach? We don't even know that. We knew Pitino couldn't about a half decade ago.

I never thought Pitino recruited well, but can you give the new guy 5 minutes before the typical shit on everything mantra?

Big jump for Pharrell Payne and Jayden Pierre in the 247 rankings today. Both are now four stars.

Ben Johnson is in New York visiting Jayden Pierre today.

Pierre also got a crystal ball prediction to Providence today on 247.

That stings. It seems the well is dry for 2022.

On to Chatman and Winter for 2023, I'd assume. Seems there's a big guy in the mix as well.

I chatted with Pharrell Payne the other day when I subbed at Park. Really nice kid. Seems normal, not the huge ego I was expecting.
