There is absolutely no enthusiasm. This might just be the rock bottom of this program right now. Team is going to be absolutely terrible this coming season when the fan fare is already at an all time low. Yikes! I would hate to be trying to sell tickets to this thing.

Even Lil Richie had some hype and brought the year 1 team to the cusp of a tourney birth.
He's working the 2022 kids hard already... that's what he was hired for.. recruit local kids.

Pitino inherited a team that just won a tournament game and had the Hollins boys. That would be like getting Carr and Kalscheur back.
Well let's hope.

Except the Hollins boy's were superior to Carr and Gabe. Gabe sucked.

So Pitino inherited a better team than Ben for sure... thanks for making my point.

Hoping for some Steffon Mitchell news soon. He would be a really solid pick-up for Minnesota.

Richard Pitino is a guest on Chris Oliver's Basketball Podcast talking coaching transitions and building programs. I have yet to listen to it, but I'm sure it's gold.

I find Richard's future quite fascinating. My assumption is he will bolt New Mexico the first opportunity he gets if it's for a power 5 school. If you stay too long at New Mexico and don't win enough.. then what?

So Robbins and Gach do they have to sit a year since they already had a transfer waiver to play right away last year?

They will have to go through the normal waiver process (unless they've graduated from college now, I think both did a year of prep school) and they'll likely get a waiver because the coach they committed to was fired.

There are a lot of 2022 names starting to blow up locally... kid from Mankato, kid from Osseo, kid from South St Paul or Cottage Grove area... they should start offering those guys now so they have some bodies regardless if they get the top 2022 local kids.

Steffon Mitchell is taking a long time to decide...

Edit: I forgot he's still testing the NBA draft waters. That's probably why.

Pssst: Parker Fox, the 6-8 high-leaping incoming Gophers basketball transfer from Mahtomedi who is explosive at the rim, has suffered a serious knee injury that makes it unlikely he’ll play this year. Parker, who’ll have two seasons of eligibility with Minnesota, injured anterior and posterior ligaments.

There are some rumors that the Fox injury happened prior to him committing to Minnesota.

I think rational people understand this year is going to be terrible, maybe biblically bad. You accept that in hopes that this program will finally build something for the years to come.

I'm more focused on 2022 recruits than what the product looks like on the floor for next season.

This is now a football school.

And the football program reeks. Yikes!
