WTF in the NFL doing with the Chargers?

Post by Why Not Us »

They're a team with no fan base.

The Vikes game last week, the Raiders game this week and I assume the rest of their home games have been packed by opposing fan bases. I almost feel bad for them having to play 16 road games.

Are they just going to move to STL in the next few years after this experiment fails?

Dean Spanos is the problem with the Chargers, not the NFL.

It sucks that San Diego wouldn't work with him to build a new stadium, but he was an idiot trying to move them to LA with no stadium plan outside of piggybacking the Rams'/Stan Kroenke's plan. That franchise looks stupid desperate right now trying to build a fanbase from scratch when they had a pretty decent following in San Diego.

Instead of alienating his existing fanbase, he could have kept them in SD for a few years working with the city on a year to year deal at Qualcomm while looking for a stadium opportunity of his own (he could have had his choice of west-coast opportunities including San Antonio, Portland, Salt Lake City, as well as staying in San Diego) until they kicked him out (which wasn't going to happen). Instead, he decided to force hands and is stuck with a shitty situation being the red-headed stepchild in his own home stadium.

The guy's an idiot.
