The Next Wolves Staff Member is...

According to the Athletic
The Wolves have several more slots to fill on the staff, and they have been working to lock those down. Kevin Burleson, a former Golden Gopher who drew high praise last year while he was in Memphis, will likely be joining the staff in a player development role, sources said.

"The Wolves also are looking at Pablo Laso, the coach of Real Madrid in Spain, for a possible spot on the bench, sources said. Laso has won two EuroLeague championships in eight seasons coaching Real Madrid."

This is obviously so Ricky Rubio and Pau Gasol feel comfortable here.

Kevin Burleson looks quite a bit like former Vikes Nate Burleson, I wonder if they are cousins.

So last year Kevin worked under JB Bickerstaff, a former teammate of his on the Gophers.
This year he will coach under Ryan Saunders, who played for the Gophers a couple years after Kevin graduated.

Hope it goes better this time around.

JB got a raw deal. He earned his head coaching gig and injuries really derailed Memphis' season and he did the best with what he had. I was kinda hoping they'd bring him in for associate head coach.

Not in a country club way, but in these guys are good coaches way.

I think JB had a lot of teams after him as a top assistant. He's been in the league for a long time now where he doesn't have to look too hard for a gig -- and obviously the Burleson connection makes sense, you gotta keep guys you're familiar with around you too. I love to see former gophers have success post college -- whether it's Humphries remaining in the league for as long as he did or JB moving up the coaching ranks.
