Green Day should be in that list. Great live band, sound the same as their albums. List seems outdated.

I saw Green Day at Edge Fest (X Fest?) in 1997- It was memorable to say the least.Straight Edge Raven wrote: ↑Sun Jun 02, 2019 3:17 pm Green Day should be in that list. Great live band, sound the same as their albums. List seems outdated.
In regards to the list, I've only seen Tom Petty (2010 at the X) and Metallica (2000 - Target Center). I'd agree, the list seems a little outdated or weighted towards record success. I love the Beatles but don't think they were ever regarded as a spectacular live act.

Re: 30 greatest live bands
I love Rush to death, but a great live show they are not. This list is shit. U2 over Van Halen? I saw U2 twice, fuck no. I mean they did get better later in their career with the disco light show.
Metallica was excellent in the 80's.

Re: 30 greatest live bands
For sure. No disrespect to Jimi but he shouldn't even be on this list once, let alone twice. I'm not a huge Dave Matthews guy but he should be on this kind of list before a lot of those listed.

That Green Day concert was amazing! Called a kid up on the stage. Was that the year with the pizza boxes flying everywhere too? Great memories of the Edgefest shows!Dude wrote: ↑Mon Jun 03, 2019 2:15 pmI saw Green Day at Edge Fest (X Fest?) in 1997- It was memorable to say the least.Straight Edge Raven wrote: ↑Sun Jun 02, 2019 3:17 pm Green Day should be in that list. I don't remember pizza boxes but they did bring the kid on stage- that's a staple of their shows.cunningham wrote: ↑Mon Jun 03, 2019 8:19 pmThat Green Day concert was amazing! I do remember the drums being lit on fire at the end of the set and the singer coming back out with an acoustic guitar to play Time of Your Life in front of the burning kit.
I've grown out of Green Day but it was a pretty cool show.

29 Prince
21 The Grateful Dead
8 Bruce Springsteen
6 The Rolling Stones
4 The Who
Pretty sad that that's all I saw, but I do agree that they were all excellent in concert. The Who would be my fav of the list.
Some of the other best shows I've seen:
SRV - several times in small venues in TX
Johnathon Richman
REM
Violent Femmes
Billy Joel - great showman
Replacements
Paul McCartney
Worst show ever:
Cocteau Twins (and I love their music)
21 The Grateful Dead
8 Bruce Springsteen
6 The Rolling Stones
4 The Who

Re: 30 greatest live bands
What a fucking terrible list...
The beatles? Maybe the best studio band of all time but their live shows were drowned out by screaming girls most of the time.
