Twins trade deadline Chat
So this thread can be for Twins trade speculation, trade proposals, etc.
But I have to ask this because I can’t help but wonder because this would be a very Pohlad/Twins organization thing to do.
Does anyone else feel like the reason that they are waiting so long to bring Cruz and Garver back has less to do with wanting to make sure they are 100% healthy and more to do with conveniently waiting until around the trade deadline so they can say bringing them off the DL is like making a trade?
Same goes for Pineda where they let his DL stint linger longer and bring him back around the deadline.....then act like it is the same as if they made a trade to upgrade the rotation?
I have a bad feeling that we won’t make a deal.

the pohlads have already given the FO the okay to make deals. i'd be very surprised if they didn't. at least two pitchers. an ace and a shutdown guy for the back end is what i have to think they're going to try to get. both hard throwers. maybe even one more pitcher as there should be plenty of teams in sell mode by the deadline.

The twins will definitely be buyers. They may not shock us with a huge trade, but I trust them to do something that will help rotation and bullpen.
I don’t have time this morning to look, but there are rule changes to the trade deadline. I’m curious what they are and how that might affect things as we get closer.

The major trade deadline rule change is that they basically eliminated the waivers portion of trades between July 31st and August 30th. There might be some weird loopholes, but if a deal gets done, it needs to be done by July 31st.

I think Kimbrel is off the table. Bert today said he saw him going to Atlanta. If we had any chance at him I think our Announcers would have a little insight.
Dallas K - I would rather role with then Perez at this point. I think Perez is fading and would be a solid bullpen arm.

Bert has no idea what's going on with free agents. Kimbrel might end up with Atlanta, but Bert has no inside info. on this or any other personnel matter.

Is there any decent pitchers left? Why bother asking.... this owner makes the Pirates owner look like Steinbreiner.

This might be early 2000's mentality but can Rick Reed and Kenny Rodgers come out of retirement ?

There will be plenty of arms available.
We will make a move or 2 and this is Thad and Derek time to shine.
We have a deep prospect pool so trust we will get something decent.

I am really not concerned they didnt add Kimbrel. It would have been a nice addition but 45 million over 3 years is crazy "panic" money.
I think the 1 yr deal for DK is a bit more manageable but I really am not as concerned about the 5th starter.
Ideally they can make a trade sooner than later. Prices go way up closer to the deadline.
No point in getting screwed in a trade. Memories of trading for Matt Capps are ruining my dreams.
I would be fine if they could find a lefty specialist. Dont need elite guys because honestly the cost might not be worth it.

I can't wait until they trade for Liriano to watch everyone who isn't paying attention blow their tops.

Hey, he is actually having a really nice year. His walks are a bit high, but I would not mind a trade for him. I wouldn't want him to be the RP headliner they get, but he'd be a solid piece...

Re: Twins trade deadline Chat
I'd start with Scherzer and see if they can pull of the miracle and then look to Bum. He's sitting at about a 3.22 era since the beginning of May. The younger studs will cost more in prospects. To me, the second tier guys behind the studs don't add enough to give anything up.The Replacements wrote: ↑Tue Jun 11, 2019 9:24 am Potential starters that might be available:

I've taken Scherzer out of the equation. Zero chance the Twins pay that salary. Even though it's 100% worth every penny. Thor could be an interesting scenario to look at. The Mets are right around .500. The next 3 weeks will be very interesting out there. If they go in the dumps, I could see them unloading Thor. The Replacements wrote: ↑Tue Jun 11, 2019 9:24 am Potential starters that might be available:

Re: Twins trade deadline Chat
I don't know that Scherzer is out of play, especially if Washington is willing to pay $5-8M. The Twins will lose the lost salary of Hughes and Reed next year ($14.5M) and another $15.5M from Schoop (Arraez/Gordon) and Pineda. They'll need to give raises and replace guys, but that's a lot of money erased for next year.Small Hands wrote: ↑Tue Jun 11, 2019 9:47 amI've taken Scherzer out of the equation. Re: Twins trade deadline Chat
The Nationals are 6 games out of 1st place and the Mets are only 4.5 out of first. Both teams have talented rosters. I don't know that either team will be sellers at the deadline. What I can tell you is, the Twins are cheap as fuck, and they wouldn't take on a contract of Scherzers size. No matter who comes off the books. Thor is under team control until 2022, so there is a possibility they'd try to acquire him. What have the Twins ever done that makes you think they'd take on a contract of crazy eyes size for anyone? I honestly don't think Scherzer is going anywhere.Ask Not wrote: ↑Tue Jun 11, 2019 10:20 amI don't know that Scherzer is out of play, especially if Washington is willing to pay $5-8M. Why would Washington pay a portion of the salary when there are at least 5 teams that would take his complete salary on?Ask Not wrote: ↑Tue Jun 11, 2019 10:20 amI don't know that Scherzer is out of play, especially if Washington is willing to pay $5-8M. Set the crack pipe down, seriously. We are not making a trade for Scherzer, Bumgarner, Zack Greinke or Syndergaard. Never will happen. I'm sure they will add a low risk middle or the road closer with one year left and on the cheap. Period. I'm sure some new leak will surface in July saying were after one of them but ultimately those guys will end up NY, Boston etc. Why keep kicking yourself in the balls?
