Richard said if Amir decides by late May not to enter the 2019 NBA Draft, he will return to college basketball and guaranteed his son will play for the 2019-2020 Gophers. “So stop speculating on it,” Richard said.

Funny, he told me he was gone no matter what.
So we'll see.
I think there is more going on with Pitino Jr than it appears.
You need to clarify "more going on than it appears" .. are you insinuating illegal things? Him being hard to play for/work with (those reports are already out there).

If Coffey doesn't stay in the draft, why would he transfer and have to sit a year?
He wouldn't do that. He's on record himself saying pro or Gophers.

I don't have ANY info on what's going on. I hear lots of stuff as well as others. But for RC to tell me he's coming out without a doubt makes me wonder.
And I know how he values education, for him and Amir to not want to finish school, has to be something.
Again, I asked RC directly, and he said he's out. Just passing it on, not trying to break anything first.
I personally want him to stay because I don't see the benefit of coming out without going to the NBA. Doubt they need money.

Amir wants his own money, his own legacy. You can make a ton of money in Europe obviously. I hope he gets drafted at this point first and foremost.

So at this point, its looking like late 2nd at best for him. More likely, summer league invite. You would think trying to prove himself another year on a team coming off a tournament win, looking to feature him again, in a P5 conference...could raise his draft stock drastically.
For the argument some are making of him staying to graduate, I don't think that's much of a factor. I don't know much about him academically, but I'm sure he could graduate before next college season. If not, its not like he's a freshman. He's past his junior year already. Can't imagine he has too many credits left to take.
I'm still holding out hope for his return. It only takes one team, but in all the mocks I've seen, his name has yet to be included. His lack of explosive athleticism really hurts him. That said, I think he could play 10 productive years for Pop.

It sounds like he'll keep his name in if a team tells him they'll take him on a two way contract and to me, those are the options that make complete sense for him. Given the two way guys the Timberwolves have had recently, I think Coffey is for sure good enough in that type of spot.
I too hope he ends up back here if he's not going to get drafted though. I'd love to see him come back on a mission to lead this team into a good big ten season and hopefully deeper in the tournament. They're lacking Murphy but I think with Carr + Willis + Demir those guys should cover Murphy and McBrayer's scoring. Oturu will take a big step too as the main guy in the post.

Amir has until tomorrow to decide. Decision should be coming anytime now...
He hasn't posted he's staying in yet because he probably doesn't have a promise for a second round pick OR two way deal. With that said, I'm telling myself he's staying in so I can be happy either way.

Supposedly he's at the U as of last night (on campus) per an Instagram video. No one is sure if there is significance behind that or not.

I can report he wasn't at Raising Cane's in Shoreview between 6:00-6:30. I hope this is a good sign.

I admit I'll get a little tingly if he says he's coming back. A true point guard getting the ball to 4 potential finishers could make next season pretty intriguing.

Sounds like he's gone from the U. Will turn pro for sure.

He must really want to visit Europe.
Or he has a promise of a two way deal.
