of course it was. the same as the number one song from the vintage rock and roll 500 songs of all-time KQ shows in the early 80's. the number two song back then was "free bird" though. this program was as close as you're going to get to listening to that show back then. not many songs that were after 1985 from this 1000 song countdown.
starting the show over again and number 1000 is a fave of mine. this is why i like listening to the show. from 1-1000 are songs that i grew up with and enjoy.
Iron Man
Wish You Were Here
Comfortably Numb
Back In the Saddle
La Villa Strangiato
That Smell
Highway Star
Locomotive Breath
Cities on Flame (With Rock and Roll)
There's Only 1 Way to Rock

Teach Your Children
Suite: Judy Blue Eyes
Carry On
Our House
Love this track
Southern Cross
Wasted On The Way
Probably one of my top plus Highwaymen. Lynyrd Skynyrd. Waylon Jennings. Janis. Jimi. Iron Butterfly. Van Halen. Beach Boys. The Outlaws. Led Zeppelin. Ramones. Harry Chapin. The Offspring. Blue Cheer. Jefferson Airplane. The Zombies. REO.
yep. that album and déjà vu still get played around here on a regular basis.
it's countdown listening time again. we're at 858 and i haven't heard any of these songs until we get to around 400. something about these countdown shows that pulls me in every time.

One thing I really like about this top 1000 thing, is that I've come across a lot of songs in the last few days that I've forgotten about. For example, I'm No Angel, by Gregg Allman is on right now. Not a bad song, but not something I'd run out and get. This Top 1000 is better than the regular Classic Rewind/Vinyl channel because we're also avoiding the repeat cycle that they have on the regular channels.

yep. i was thinking about when's the last time i heard that song when it was playing too. 1000 songs is a huge playlist and it encompasses more than a couple of their channels as they are pointing out to us in between some of the songs.
I missed the number, but Paradise By The Dashboard Lights is on...am I the only froob that feels like I should be at a wedding dance when that song comes on?

i heard it-and there's a meatloaf thread with comments on the song somewhere here. pretty good run of songs in the mid 700's too. some paul rodgers now.

The song is about a dude trying to fuck, but the woman decides to cut him off at 3rd base unless he commits his entire life to her. The man agrees, but immediately regrets it.
Johnny B. Goode
Whole Lotta Shakin Goin On
Midnight Rambler- Stones
Runnin With The Devil- Van Halen
Train Kept A Rollin - Areosmith
Rock and Roll - Led Zepplin
All Along The Watchtower - Jimi
Heartbreak Hotel - Elvis
Crossroads - Cream
Long Tall Sally- Little Richard

Can we get firm perameters on what is and isn’t “classic rock?”
Thanks!
this countdown show is taking in plenty of siriusxm channels which they are using for promotions while they count the songs down. everything from ozzy to america. 414 was "horse with no name". i wonder if a song like "american pie" made it. whatever the definition-it's been a good listen to for the subscribers imo.

I always wonder what the cutoffs are?
Are the Beatles classic rock? Even their early stuff?
Elvis?
What about Guns N’ Roses? Classic rock?
My own working definition is that “classic rock” starts when the Beatles matured in the mid/late 60s(“Love Me Do” is not classic rock) and ended around 1979 or so.
But that’s just me.
Or is it a sound and not an era?
Is Greta Van fleet classic rock? Buckcherry?

not much stuff past mid-80's-if any. i don't think any elvis is on there. siriusxm is advertising this as the "most influental" classic rock songs of all-time. guns-n-roses is on the list.

manfred mann's version of "blinded by the light" at 493. sure sounds like he says "wrapped up like a douche"-now doesn't it?
"mama never told me to look into the eye's of the sun. but mama that's where the fun is."
Bruce Sprinsteen made me laugh when when he said something along the lines of "who could have have imagined that just by changing one word of a song to a feminine hygiene product that it would become a classic"
number 130 and counting. that must mean that they're going to repeat it one more time if they're going to go until 3-15. i've got pockets missing and it isn't going to hurt me to hear some of it again so i figure i'll keep the channel right here until this is over.
