Devin Booker>Curry?

Post by Bailey'sBigBoot »

Not over their career, but right now, I think Booker is better than Curry. Did anyone see what he did last night? Insane. He was doing it last year too until he got injured.

so you disagree? okay, but at least tell me why I'm wrong. Again, this isn't a career comparison. This is right now, this year this moment. Booker will be a higher scoring, better player at the end of the season. Guaranteed.

Remember when we thought Kevin Love was a top 5 player? It's not hard to put up stats on a terrible team. Curry wins titles and is the single best shooter I've ever seen.

I haven't seen many bad players put up 25/game just because they're on a bad team. That doesn't exist.

23.6ppg 31-51 Andrew Wiggins
20.3ppg 27-55 Mike James
26.7ppg 28-54 Michael Redd
25.7ppg 36-46 Jim Jackson
25.5 png 26-56 Monta Ellis
24.9ppg 17-65 Antawn Jamison
26.0 26-40 Kevin Love

Booker is a really nice player, I'd take him in a heartbeat, but it's silly to think players can't put up high scoring numbers on bad teams that overrate their value as a player. Especially when the conversation is sparked after 1 game against a horrid team. This is almost as bad as overreacting to Summer League.

Devin Booker isn't a top 5 player in the league.

Things in Curry's favor:
*****Three point shooting gravity
****passing
*****defense
******General scoring aptitude

Curry is from a completely different dimension than Booker. Booker is a truly awful defender and did not have a positive impact on the court last year because of it. Curry is actually pretty decent defensively, underrated. Curry also has shooting gravity that Booker will never touch.

Not exactly the best comparison between Love and Booker. In that comparison, Booker needs to go get his shine box.

I can agree with that. I definitely think Curry has been better. But I also think Booker takes the next big step this year and passes him.

The 2014 season he was absolutely a top five player.

That said, this thread is incredibly ridiculous.

Love has always been the same player and that’s never been top 5. Your point helps the OPs argument because Love was a good player on a bad team, just like Booker.

Curry is already one of the GOAT point guards. Booker has to prove he can lead a team that isn't arguably the worst in the league.

And not one single person has said Devin Booker is a bad player. The argument is his stats are inflated due to being on a terrible team. And no, Booker's numbers were not remotely comparable to Curry's last year.

The Phoenix Suns in 2018 were the worst offense in the NBA, the WORST. When Booker was on the court, the Suns had a 104.6 ORtg, when he was off the court, they had a 103.1 offensive rating. He wasn't elevating his team.

When Stephen Curry was on the court last year, the Warriors had a 122.8 ORtg (LO f'ing L) and a 107.9 ORtg when he was off the court.

Not even getting into their defense (which was also the worst). Do you think that if you put Curry on that team, they would still literally be the worst offense? There is no chance.

I'll be brutally honest with you, if you are going to make preposterously reactionary takes after one game, you'll likely find only the most argumentative crowd to engage you after awhile.

Wait a few games, gather a sample size, then make an assessment. Saying someone is better than a top three player because of a season opener against the Dallas Mavericks goes a step beyond "ludicrous".
