*** Official 2018-19 Draft Thread ***

Post by flexbuffchest »

THought I'd make this thread after watching Zion Williamson. Not taking anything away from these games in terms of skill level or not as they are playing scrubs but this guy is so physically dominant and an incredible athlete that he makes Ayton look normal.

Measured out at 6'7" and 285 pounds and is ripped. Just turned 18 a month ago.

Might get ripped but he may already be approaching that athlete that LeBron was in his prime.

To me he's the most polarizing player ever to come out of the draft. I can't tell if this dude is gonna be an all star or like a 9th man but he's super intriguing.

Definitely rooting for him but I am genuinely stumped at how good he'll translate into college then the pro's. Not one comp comes to mind

(I didn't even know he was left handed until that first Duke game where he hit a couple 3's)

He's quite polarizing for sure. Athletic freak, perhaps one of the most impressive athletic freaks since LeBron but there are a lot of questions about how skilled he is. We just need to see how he does against legitimate college competition because he hasn't faced it yet. A lot of people compare him to Charles Barkley.

This dude was super-hyped for his big body and athleticism at one time, too:

I'll just be quietly over here hyping SDSU's 6' 9" PF Mike Daum.

Anthony Bennett was like 40 lbs lighter and still had a lot less athleticism, the two are not comparable.

Dude, Zion is in another galaxy in terms of athleticism. I have no idea if he will be a bust or not but I do know this guy will be the most exciting player in college next year. High motor ripped 285 pound guy that never stops hustling.

Be prepared.

Zion is really hard for me to gauge. He looks great when dunking and driving to the lane and the little floaters he has. He has a real knack for scoring around 10ft from the rim. He looks like a man among boys but his handles and shot are definitely suspect. Duke is gonna be tough this year.

It's definitely hard to tell what kind of player he will be. Virtually all of his highlights on youtube were of him dominating high school guys that were literally like 1 foot shorter than him. Anything we read about the guy kind of has to be taken with a grain of salt. But from the limited tape we have of him playing alongside Duke players...he sure passes the eye test even though it was against terrible competition.

Having said that I don't see how this guy doesn't absolutely dominate college ball. To put things in a little perspective, rookie Shaq was 295 pounds but at 7'1". Zion has that kind of athleticism but he obviously has the disadvantage of being a lot shorter.

I haven't been more hyped about a prospect than this guy.

He's going to dominate. They played a summer tourney I think in Canada and he is a full on freak. Great handle and passing for a big and not just an interior dunker. Watching him off the bounce or on the break adjusting in the air? The touch on the flip shots and runners? It's Lebron light who he looks like not bigger this schmuck or that schmuck.

Can not remember a prospect I've been more interested to watch. I just love all the mocks that have him like 6-12 because he's not a soft 7'1" or a 3 chucker. He would go over and through 3/4 of NBA bigs right now.

That Duke team is so damn stacked. They completely manhandled Kentucky.

We already fucked ourselves not taking Richardson. Tank and we'll not win the lotto and end up with some overrated, soft, stiff.

I am really starting to hate this team.

He's the most ridiculous college basketball player I've ever watched live. Maybe Shaq was better, but I never watched him in college.

The shit Zion, and the rest of Duke did to the #2 team in the country should be illegal.

And Tre Jones was just a perfect fit. Loved his leadership tonight.

I know zero about college basketball. I didn't read this thread. I just watched the Zion highlights. He looks like Bo Jackson.

Take the 4 firsts from Houston. Trade everyone and let the natural tank happen. Trade everything. Get this guy.

Seriously.

Yeah, Zion is a freak. Probably the most freakish wing prospect (I assume he's a wing, might be a PF) since LeBron.

RJ is probably the top player in this draft but we have no shot at him.

Maybe Grimes out of Kansas combo guard gets Eric Gordon comps had nice start against Michigan St 6-10 from range
