If Boston and Minnesota played in different conferences

Post by salamander »

Out of curiosity I'd like some insight from some of our more savvy NBA minds.

Seems like the Western Conference is just a better conference. If Minnesota were in the East and Boston were in the West this year would MN have over 60 wins right and Boston have mid 50's wins right now? (Basically mirror the records of the other team)

Seems like Boston has a scheduling advantage just based on their conference.
It's been 32 years since one of MN's four major sports teams has been to the Championship/Superbowl.
Every single year is failure until we win one. 4 teams, 32 years. That's roughly 128 consecutive failed seasons.

I think Boston is better overall than Minnesota but yes the Wolves would be at 60 now and Boston would probably be in the mid 50s. The difference in the conferences isn't even close.

I think Boston would be just as good. Their line up is legitimately stacked. They are the real deal

If Boston had to play Denver 4 times, OKC 4 times, instead of Washington, Detroit, and Charlotte they would win a few less games. I still think Boston would be around 60 wins. The Wolves would have a good chance at 60+ wins in the east as long as they didn't take too many days off with lower effort.

East sucks as usual. Do you know how many times Wolves would have made it into the playoffs if we simply change conferences?

Wolves are 37-13 against the west, 74% winning percentage
Wolves are 17-11 against the east, 60.7% wp
so you could potentially project us to be worse if we went to the east, bc we can't handle Chicago for some reason lol

Celtics 62-16 overall (79.5% wp)
vs East - 39-9 81.3 %
vs west - 23-7 - 76.7% wp

they'd likely still win 60-65 games, maybe a but more beat up having to play all the west teams, but who knows.
east would be harder if Cle was healthy all year, Embiid played 70 games, or Milwaukee doesn't hire Doc

for some reason the wolves have left some games on the table against the east. a terrible loss against charlotte. two against the bulls. the first game of the year in toronto. a second half collapse against atlanta. a loss at home against orlando. played boston tough--and could've won that game. could be an epic series if they met up in the finals.

As bad as the Orlando loss was, they could end up the 2nd seed. Milwaukee’s reeling and they play each other twice this week.
