time to bring this discussion back up for air.
I think the logic behind the off day after the opener at an indoor stadium is that every team needs the same number of off days, but even that is thin.
We haven't had opening day, evening/night game since Target Field opened. It's always been on a Monday or Thursday at 3:05. I get why as that is not knowing how the weather can go, but I'm not sure why the indoor place can't hold opening day at night. The Dome did that.

Because many openings games get postponed because of weather. They leave the next day open for that reason. 2 games yesterday were postponed because of weather. They will play them today now.
but let's say that there was a game already scheduled for the next day. you still are fine if there's a postponement. right? and if it isn't postponed you are potentially wasting a fine day for baseball.
There's added value to buying an opening day ticket. So, they can better preserve that distinction

i'll just put this here. stirrups has a point.
Cost and logistics notwithstanding, a retractable roof would've been a no brainer. Although for those of us that don't mind sitting in less than ideal conditions, cheap tickets on the resale market are cool too.
still doesn't make much sense to me. i'm going to put this here though.
