“Disco 2000” by Pulp always kind of reminded me of that song. The main motif, anyway.

#2 is the highest it made on the pop charts--but laura did get the record for the longest time a woman was on the top 100 charts. 36 weeks. don't know if it's still the record--but she had it at one time with gloria.

That's pre-Madonna, pre-Whitney Houston, pre-Shania Twain, pre-Brittney, pre-T-Swift, pre-Gaga... hard to imagine it's still a record.

Branigan was a real talent lost far too soon. I remember her duet with Ponch on CHIPS.

Referring to a song called Gloria should only refer to the song written by Van Morrison and performed by The Doors.

It ain't no Total Eclipse of the Heart by Bonnie Tyler either.

Gloria is a document, an epic document depicting the struggle of a woman exploring her savage sexuality amidst an ever changing societal backdrop.

Autobiographical for sure. Every time I see LB singing the official video I imagine her struggle, and admire her courage. Gone too soon.
