“Disco 2000” by Pulp always kind of reminded me of that song. The main motif, anyway.

#2 is the highest it made on the pop charts--but laura did get the record for the longest time a woman was on the top 100 charts. 36 weeks. don't know if it's still the record--but she had it at one time with gloria.

That's pre-Madonna, pre-Whitney Houston, pre-Shania Twain, pre-Brittney, pre-T-Swift, pre-Gaga... hard to imagine it's still a record.weimy froob wrote: ↑Thu Dec 28, 2023 8:38 am #2 is the highest it made on the pop charts--but laura did get the record for the longest time a woman was on the top 100 charts. 36 weeks. don't know if it's still the record--but she had it at one time with gloria.

Branigan was a real talent lost far too soon. I remember her duet with Ponch on CHIPS.

Gloria is a document, an epic document depicting the struggle of a woman exploring her savage sexuality amidst an ever changing societal backdrop.
Autobiographical for sure. Every time I see LB singing the official video I imagine her struggle, and admire her courage. Gone too soon.
