Is it legal to have a bedroom in the garage?

I've got a heated garage and want to put a bedroom in there. I think it will be plenty warm in the winter.

I think as long as it has a fire alarm and an exit you should be good to go.

I slept there last night! Not totally finished yet though.

I'll be tempted to rent it out once I get the fire alarm installed!
