After decades of work, scientists finish the human genome

Scientific stuff, religious stuff, and all of the shit we don't yet know about like spooky ghosts and bigfoot.

After decades of work, scientists finish the human genome

A team of 99 scientists has given us a new view of our DNA.
By Carl Zimmer New York Times JULY 24, 2021 — 3:28PM

Two decades after the draft sequence of the human genome was unveiled to great fanfare, a team of 99 scientists has finally deciphered the entire thing. They have filled in vast gaps and corrected a long list of errors in previous versions, giving us a new view of our DNA.

The consortium has posted six papers online in recent weeks in which they describe the full genome. These hard-sought data, now under review by scientific journals, will give scientists a deeper understanding of how DNA influences risks of disease, the scientists say, and how cells keep it in neatly organized chromosomes instead of molecular tangles.

That's good. I'm cynical that the scientists' herculean effort in map-making won't end the crusade against humanity's faulty genetics.

Honestly, I wish they would. You still have highly intelligent people squeezing all the juice out of pharmaceuticals, and Healthcare, that could easily be displaced and and reapplied into a venture more rewarding.

Figure out humanity's basic problems that have been handicapping us, so that as a species, we can evolve and be become what we were destined to be. Instead we are reinventing the wheel over and over again when we already know roads aren't necessary for where we are to go.

Just think, you'll be able to fuck your sister and they'll fix all faulty genetics that arise from incest.

You'll be able to hear the cheers from Kentucky from two states away.
It's been 32 years since one of MN's four major sports teams has been to the Championship/Superbowl.
Every single year is failure until we win one. 4 teams, 32 years. That's roughly 128 consecutive failed seasons.
