Minnesota Gophers Basketball have fired Richard Pitino.

Pitino interviewed for the New Mexico job this Saturday. He is the finalist for that job and him being hired there will cut his buyout in half

Trust me he’s not fired yet, would be beyond stupid to do it if he is a finalist at New Mexico. Optics would be horrible paying buyout with sports cut

That was a quick transition to NM, lol maybe 24 hours ? I think he's wanted this job for a couple of years anyways.

New Mexico AD has ties to Billy Donovan... and it was a smooth transition to save the U some money.
