too much horrible shit to parse over in this loss. the pacers went 14 of 28 from three - so our perimeter defense sucks. but i also counted TWENTY NINE layups or dunks by the pacers. so our defense in the paint is horrible too. 141 points given up to the pacers JV squad. i guess we can pride ourselves on our tough defense of the long two. we continue to run with 15 instead of 17 players. a shotblocker would have been a nice addition tonight - my guess is if we had a great one, he's have rejected maybe 8 of those 29 layups - but more likely they'd stop trying to get to the rim because of the block rate. notice how the knicks lost mitchell robinson, one of the best shotblockers in the game to a broken hand - and then not only signed john henson, a career per 36 shotblocker of 2.4 - but ALSO norvel pelle, whose career per 36 blocks is even better than henson's. we don't do that kind of shit - other teams do - we could have used SOME sort of rim resistance tonight. think of that. we blocked 2 shots tonight - they made 29 layups.

if there's one thing that was okay - it was that Ant's big fourth quarter came in an actual comeback. they weren't just empty points. he got us back in the game - unlike some other big fourth quarters of his where it was hopeless and he just padded stats. but i can't find much else to be hopeful about.

and i said this earlier - but cade cunningham is not a player who can save a team that crapped its shorts like the wolves did tonight. nice player, but it's not like we'd be adding magic johnson. he took his oklahoma team into the tourney - beat Liberty (whereever the hell they're from) by 9 and then lost in the next game to a 12th seeded Oregon State team. he's not a transformational player who will suddenly make all our troubles go away. we have so much to fix or jettison on this squad regardless of who we may (or may not) get in the draft.
