I was never a real bobo for him, but I was definitely intrigued. Remember when he scored 35 points that one game?
That was a short bandwagon ride, but it was crowded for a few days!

I thought AK-47 would be more impactful here than he was.
I thought Alexey Shved was going to be good.
I kinda invisioned this Euro-ball team with Rubio, Shved, Kirilenko, and Pekovic. Didn't really work out. Neat roster, though.

Naw, he was a true 7 footer, could block shots, had a hook shot and passing ability. He had it all physically. He even put prime Blake Griffin on a poster and was abusing him in the post here in Minnesota.
That was the easiest call in the history of Wolves Chat. Sorry you couldn't see it.

Beasley WAS great when he was here. He just sort of didn't play a team game.KevinBaconIsNotMyHero wrote: ↑Wed Nov 25, 2020 10:31 pm Wasn’t a Wolves draft pick but I was absolutely convinced Michael Beasley would be a star when he was traded here. I was all in.

Shane Heal, man. 15-year old me saw a lot of myself after that ridiculous display against the Sonics in ‘97.

I will remember that Wes Johnson dunk in the first quarter of his first game that was just vicious. Can't remember if it was his first two points or not. Excited for the possibilities that maybe this guy can do a few things! 20 games later.... Wes Johnson sucks. I felt like I was off that dude's bandwagon quicker that maybe any Wolves draft pick.

Beasley was good his first year here. The dude could really score. Than never really achieved those same heights again. As a reclamation project he was our best chance at a legit superstar at the time.

Shved could have been good. It's possible he just came over too young, He really got beat down mentally in the NBA it seemed. Then went back to Europe to play. I remember his shot seection just being one of his huge NBA downfalls.Beef Supreme wrote: ↑Wed Nov 25, 2020 10:51 pm I thought AK-47 would be more impactful here than he was.

I think the obvious answer is marbury, but he had some mental issues that prevented him from reaching his ceiling.
Mccants is another one. Was a hell of a scorer. I remember getting so excited when we drafted him draft night thinking we gotta get at least one of the North Carolina quartet that year

The Wolves could put together a first and second team of such failures. That is for sure.

Seems like half this list were crappy players when the Wolves got them and stayed crappy.

I know this isn't directed at me, but is something wrong with that? I don't watch any other games other than Wolves games. I don't really care about about the NBA, I only care about the Wolves.Beef Supreme wrote: ↑Wed Nov 25, 2020 11:18 pm

I am sure there are many who only follow the Wolves and not the league, at least not actively.

Some were mad at me because I was happy we traded him for Kevin Love.

Nothings wrong with it. I don’t watch much non-wolves anymore, but I did ten years ago.LordNu wrote: ↑Thu Nov 26, 2020 5:49 pmI know this isn't directed at me, but is something wrong with that? In the context of the conversation I’m having about darko, it’s relevant. If you watched him at all in his career, you’d know what he was. If you didn’t, sure, you saw a legit 7-1 athletic big man and could be excited. If you watched that person actually play basketball, you knew better than to be happy.
So there’s nothing wrong at all about not watching the rest of the league. It just impedes your ability to have informed opinions about the rest of the players across said league.

Mike Miller. Never a more frustrating player. A shooter who simply refused to shoot. Maddening.
