Wolves Rotation
Ok, so, what the hell is our rotation now we have our beloved Ricky back?
D'lo/Rubio/McLaughlin?
Edwards/Beasley - I am of the opinion you can't not start a number 1 pick.
Okogie/Culver/Martin
?/Layman/Daniels
KAT/Reid
How does that seem

Honestly I'm not even going to try until we find out what our roster will look like. What it is right now is not what it will be on opening night.

As of today
C - Towns/Reid
PF - Layman/Juancho/Vanderbilt
SF - Edwards/Culver
SG - Beasley/Okogie
PG - Russell/Ricky
Assuming Beasley and Juancho are re-signed. That was good for 24 wins last year over an 82 game schedule. Of course Towns missed most of the season and the trades...
Without another major move, best case scenario is 30 wins and no lottery pick in the 2021 draft.

It's that PF position which is the greatest worry.

Re: Wolves Rotation
without any other moves, i'm assuming:
ricky/jmac/hagans
dlo/culver/nowell
edwards/okogie/martin
layman/juancho/vandy
KAT/naz/spellman
and with all my other assumptions about this team, i'll assume i'm wrong.
if i can bother with one hope, it's that we don't resign juancho - and get jamychal green in free agency instead. i'll assume christian wood and jerami grant are beyond the scope of our imagination. i want vandy to get some run this year. i'm also looking forward to the jazz/wolves game so i can see the azuibuke vs naz battle of the backup titans. 290 pounds of their muscle against 265 pounds of our soft and squishy. drawn, quartered and rendered might be suitable terms for that carnage.

I'd like to see DLo/Okogie paired together and Ricky/Edwards paired together.
Then you look at mixing in Beasley, Culver, and Layman.
One of Beasley, Okogie, or Culver might have to go for a big. Just hard to get minutes for everyone with such a gaping hole at the 4.

Re: Wolves Rotation
absolutely agree. adding an $18M backup makes zero sense when you've already got jmac doing a fine job as a backup. that starting PG tandem better be rubio and jmac. dlo starts at the 2 - edwards is hefty and powerful enough to be the starting 3. where it gets dicey is beasley, okogie, culver territory. one of them will be out of the rotation in that situation - and only one of them is due a contract. i think the addition of rubio (and maybe the domestic bullshit) spells the exit of beasley. best case scenario is a sign and trade for a big. radar set for expendable PFs who make about what beasley's about to get. what are we thinking that will be - 7 to 10 range all things considered?HeHateMe wrote: ↑Fri Nov 20, 2020 8:32 am KAT/Reid

Re: Wolves Rotation
we extended an offer to beasley of around $3.5M. which I'D SAY is considerably less than the two year/$42M deal that was floating around hoops sites back in April. a lot has happened. it won't be $21M per year. but he won't stay here for $3.5M. we have the right to match, correct - if some team offers him more, but within what is reasonable?
i just know that IF we resign jmac - which we absolutely should, plus we should play him - that means rubio starts and Dlo shifts to offguard. why the hell did we get rubio again? i'm having a hard time having that make a lick of sense. but onward.
if you count six rotational spots between the PG and wings - that's rubio, jmac, Dlo, edwards, culver, okogie and beasley - in other words, SEVEN players for six spots and someone will be the odd man out. i want to keep culver, think he has great potential - so for me it's "who is going to get us the best return between okogie or beasley?" that's the good scenario.
the more likely scenario is that some team offers beasley something we don't want to match - so we let him walk. let's remember that he was the best piece we got in return for cov. if that happens, let's just hope and pray that vanderbilt blows up to be something, because i think we already know that all we have in juancho is a hustle guy.

I believe Rubio will be coming off the bench, with maybe some starts based on matchups. He'll still play 25-30 minutes a night, some alongside DLO, most running the second unit. We sure won't have to wait very long to find out though, will we.

so you think we're dumping jmac? if we give him a piddly offer, some other team will nab him. he outplayed everyone's expectations last year - and it would be SO TIMBERWOLVES to not recognize that.jffl_commish wrote: ↑Fri Nov 20, 2020 1:03 pm I believe Rubio will be coming off the bench, with maybe some starts based on matchups.
