Ricky Rubio
You gotta feel for this guy.
He goes to Utah and they replace him with Mike Conley Jr and actually get worse.
He goes to Phoenix and they replace him with a Hall of Famer in CP3.
Maybe the best choice is to bring Ricky Rubio home.
Trade 17 and James Johnson to OKC for Rubio.
Trade 1 to Hornets for 3, 32, and Miles Bridges. Draft Onyeka at 3.

Poor poor Ricky. Yes, bring him home. If he accepts a role as a backup PG, he will make the team shine.

Re: Ricky Rubio
While I wouldn't mind bringing Rubio back, his role here would be odd at best. I don't think he's starting at SG, unless you think Dlo wants to play offball more to free Ricky to run point? I think he's a 6th man here....massive upgrade from Jmac, but 17 plus an expiring seems high for him considering his need/role here. I would trade JJ+33rd for him....as I think we can get a good project piece at 17, ala, Precious. I would take the Charlotte deal if really offered and I too would Okongwu.
Dlo/Ricky
Beasley/Culver
Bridges/Oke
Okongwu/Precious/Naz
KAT/Naz
Stellar lineup IMO, potent offensively, and we finally have a defensive presence down low to protect the rim.

Naw, let Ricky run the offense and DLo the main scorer just like they did in Phoenix.digitalwolf wrote: ↑Mon Nov 16, 2020 5:45 pm While I wouldn't mind bringing Rubio back, his role here would be odd at best. Rubio ran offense and had 8.8 assist a game while Booker scores 25 pts a game and still averaged 6 assist.
The we can draft your boy Onyeka Okongwu

He's owed 35 million over the next two seasons. I'd rather use that money on a potential starter than a backup point guard.

CP3 trade would piss me off if I was in his shoes. They aren't looking to the future where they can actually contend.

This is why Sam Presti is the best in the business. When he signs players to long-term deals, they always know they can go to him and request a trade and he will get them to a contender or a destination of their liking. He did it with Paul George, Russell Westbrook, and now Chris Paul. This is the difference between Houston and Russell Westbrook right now looking completely unprofessional and almost cancerous.Hoop Dreams wrote: ↑Mon Nov 16, 2020 5:52 pmRumor was that OKC gave him a lot of say in where he was traded to.LordNu wrote: ↑Mon Nov 16, 2020 5:49 pmI am still assuming we get Booker.Hoop Dreams wrote: ↑Mon Nov 16, 2020 5:48 pm

My god do you clowns want to be remain irrelevant? Bring back Ricky, trade for Aaron Gordon...i’d rather have the team move to Seattle as they’ll continue to remain irrelevant foreseeable future with these guys on the roster

Re: Ricky Rubio
Nope. JMac is better and JJ's expiring has too much value. Well. to a team without a piece of shit owner. Plus come on. We all love Rubio and how he plays hard and smart and wants to win. You know, same reason everyone hated Buckets? Towns would cry him out the door in a month. Then make us trade him for a couple of NBA whores and cash to buy a boat he can hang out on during practice.UnFadeable21 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 16, 2020 5:50 pmWhat about Johnson and 33 for Ricky RubioThrillkill wrote: ↑Mon Nov 16, 2020 5:36 pmLove how you think we add 17 and not them adding a pick.UnFadeable21 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 16, 2020 5:29 pm

Re: Ricky Rubio
Johnson's expiring is enough for Rubio. He has two more years at almost $35 million total. Not sure I'd want him back, but he shot better than Russell from deep last season. Smart player that busts it on the floor at 30. Hard to believe Ricky Rubio is 30.UnFadeable21 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 16, 2020 5:50 pmWhat about Johnson and 33 for Ricky RubioThrillkill wrote: ↑Mon Nov 16, 2020 5:36 pmLove how you think we add 17 and not them adding a pick.UnFadeable21 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 16, 2020 5:29 pm

Re: Ricky Rubio
Can I ask why people want to bring back a PG making big $ who can’t shoot, can’t finish at the rim and needs ball in hand (kind of problem with D-Lo needing the ball)...I get the nostalgia of little Rocky but come on people. Under your logic Twins should re-sign Nick Punto to lifetime contract as he gave us all warm fuzzies

Talk about the worst shooting lineup in the NBA, 3 guys who have zero chance of hitting a jumper, might as well double KAT and D-Lo and let the other 3 try and beat youUnFadeable21 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 16, 2020 6:18 pm Trade 33 and Johnson to OKC for Ricky Rubio

Be thankful no one remembers as it was a dumb thread before and this one is even dumber...there is absolutely zero logic to bring him back when D-Lo is your PG. You either draft or get a veterans min guy not a guy making 16.5M a year

There is no way anyone should want Ricky Rubio on the Wolves.
I tell you one thing, as much as Rubio was an exciting player and to start his NBA he was really playing well, that he did not become a NBA star really rests on him. I thought that because he was such a "gym rat" and had a great free throw release, that once he matured he would develop HIMSELF into an average shooter at worst. He was a very good free throw shooter who you can see worked himself into a great free throw shooter in his career. Why couldn't he develop his jump shot in a similar way? He is a career 39.1% shooter from the field. Five out of his 9 NBA seasons he shot under 40% from the field, and never has shot above 42% from the field in his entire career. Assists are the most overrated statistic in all of basketball and are way overvalued in PER and W/S statistics. The fact is, outside of the first half of his rookie season before he was injured, he never really was a good NBA player.
