once again, a winnable game. but we are choosing to suck - so we can lose - and move up in the draft - in a really weak draft class - to have a chance at who again?
the way this team is being run makes me want to vomit. don't tell me that they're instituting a system so that players will want to come here and be a part of it. no player in his right mind will want to play for a team so horribly managed. yeah, right, let me go to minnesota - where they obviously have no fucking idea how to play their talent. the stench of hubris. i gotta get away from this fucking shit.

I can’t honestly judge the talent of any of the players right now. This stuff is such fucking garbage that you know if the System is ever running right none of the players will be doing what they are doing right now.somuchyummy wrote: ↑Wed Jan 15, 2020 9:21 pm once again, a winnable game. but we are choosing to suck - so we can lose - and move up in the draft - in a really weak draft class - to have a chance at who again?

But we did get to hear Jim pump up Rosas’s picks to no end....Culver getting much needed press, Naz will get a big push next and then Nowell will get his turn in the spotlight. To borrow a now famous phrase - “It Was Perfect”.....the Draft that is.

Never going to change till Glen croaks. Ryan is NOT an NBA caliber coach but honestly no one could come into this franchise right now and make a difference. The more things change the more they stay the same....

Culver covered him in the 4th. His D was flawless.

i wouldn't bash culver and praise wiggins. i'm so over wiggins. KAT's gone and who do you call? certainly not wigs! he ain't taking calls right now. so... last six games, here's the averages of two players on the team - which of the two is wigs?jodaman01 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 15, 2020 9:45 pmCulver covered him in the 4th. 14.0ppg/3.5rpg/3.5apg/0.7spg/0.5bpg on 38%/25%/75% (hint: wigs)
the other is culver.

now that's just a weird perspective. pretty sure that was andrew, not gersson, who spent 32 minutes on the court tonight stinking it up. (and if you're thinking that the numbers are skewed because culver's had more PT in that 6 game period than wigs, no. it's been almost equal - with wigs having played about 6 minutes more than culver.)jodaman01 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 15, 2020 10:09 pmJust as Rosas wants it.somuchyummy wrote: ↑Wed Jan 15, 2020 9:54 pmi wouldn't bash culver and praise wiggins. i'm so over wiggins. Re: Pacers/Wolves 1/15/20
interesting quote from gorgs last night. anyone know if it was during a halftime interview or post game?
anyway, he was asked about sabonis' 25 pt first half outburst and said "just guard him. that's all it is. guard him. everybody got strengths and weaknesses. nights like that, you've got to put your best defender on him".
that sounds like frustration about losing and about stupid coaching decisions.

it certainly appears that "they" (meaning rosas and saunders) aren't trying to win. which IMO is just stupid as hell. they continue to institute a culture of losing - especially on a fairly young team - all in pursuit of what? a higher draft pick in a crappy draft year?jodaman01 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 15, 2020 11:20 pmDo you think they are trying to win?somuchyummy wrote: ↑Wed Jan 15, 2020 10:36 pmnow that's just a weird perspective. pretty sure that was andrew, not gersson, who spent 32 minutes on the court tonight stinking it up. culver is looking to me like he belongs in the nba, and has been playing pretty well as of late. but he's not a transformational player - he's just a potential piece of a good team. expect NO ONE in this draft to be a transformational player. we're doubling down on a losing culture here in hopes of selecting another player of similar impact to culver. that's it - and it's entirely fence post stupid.

Wait....many here have assured me this upcoming draft was loaded and nothing but a lock for the Wolves to finally get their star PG. now you are saying it’s a below average draft and the Wolves are unlikely to find their star PG in it. I am bummed because I believe your draft and player assessments, and also that I am not surprised because I believe your draft and player assessments.somuchyummy wrote: ↑Thu Jan 16, 2020 8:33 amit certainly appears that "they" (meaning rosas and saunders) aren't trying to win. which IMO is just stupid as hell. they continue to institute a culture of losing - especially on a fairly young team - all in pursuit of what? a higher draft pick in a crappy draft year?jodaman01 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 15, 2020 11:20 pmDo you think they are trying to win?somuchyummy wrote: ↑Wed Jan 15, 2020 10:36 pm

Re: Pacers/Wolves 1/15/20
i think the argument people found in your point is that coby white - who you have been very pro on - is not the answer at PG for the team. and that there is quite probably a better option in this year's draft. i believe there is - haliburton. is he a star? maybe, nothing certain - but certainly worth checking out. is he going to be a star his first two years? probably not. but white isn't either. if you want a "star" PG immediately for this team, then it would best be found in a trade or FA.

Culver was impressive. They kept running screens to get Culver off of Brogdan in the 4th. When they succeeded he scored. Very excited to watch this kid get even better. He's got the D and the O is coming around nicely.

Re: Pacers/Wolves 1/15/20
I will still argue that White was the better pick for this Team than Culver. Here is why. Was he the guaranteed answer at PG...IDK, but I do know he would have been a better fit here at PG than Culver. Culver is a duplication of services we already have. White would be getting training as our PG and better in the backcourt with the ball and faster than Culver and would have been a far better candidate for the job than anything we have on the roster. At a minimum White could have been the microwave off the bench that so many teams covet and we always need.somuchyummy wrote: ↑Thu Jan 16, 2020 10:00 am i think the argument people found in your point is that coby white - who you have been very pro on - is not the answer at PG for the team. and that there is quite probably a better option in this year's draft. i believe there is - haliburton. is he a star? maybe, nothing certain - but certainly worth checking out. is he going to be a star his first two years? probably not. but white isn't either. if you want a "star" PG immediately for this team, then it would best be found in a trade or FA.
Therefore even if White turned out not to be the answer at PG the Wolves could have drafted an “official” PG like they probably will this year and still had a “McCollum” type player but more physical in White - which is something this Team and System seem designed for and the Wolves have always needed. Culver may be a good player (let’s just say for this example he is really good), but he is not the better player for this Team or System, he is just more of what we already have - IMO.
I get the whole BPA approach to the draft, it’s sound and safe. It doesn’t mean you are going to build a good Team though. Look at the VIKES and Spielman. He always does a good job of taking the BPA available, but he has no clue how to put the pieces together and build an actual Team because the BPA talent he picks doesn’t meet the needs of the Team or System they are running.
