San Antonio Spurs shooting guard DeMar DeRozan has cleared his Instagram.
The last time this happened, DeRozan was traded from the Toronto Raptors to the Spurs in the Kawhi Leonard blockbuster trade.
DeRozan is making $27.7 million this season. He has a player option worth the same amount for the 2020-21 season.
In his first season with the Spurs, DeRozan averaged 21.2 points, 6.0 rebounds and 6.2 assists per game. The 30-year-old California native shot 48.1 percent from the field and 83.0 percent from the free-throw line.
The Spurs lost to the Denver Nuggets in the first round of the 2019 playoffs in seven games. DeRozan put up 22.0 points, 6.7 rebounds and 4.6 assists per game in the series.
San Antonio is just 6-11 on the season entering Monday. DeRozan is putting up 22.1 points, 5.4 rebounds and 4.6 assists per game on the season. He’s shooting 53.0 percent from the floor and 82.4 percent from the free-throw line. The Spurs guard has yet to hit a 3-pointer.
DeRozan has been linked to the Miami Heat and Detroit Pistons in the past. It will be very interesting to see if the Spurs do in fact trade DeMar and/or LaMarcus Aldridge and embark on a rebuild. In a rugged Western Conference, it appears San Antonio is going to have a tough time making the playoffs — even if they have one of the best coaches in NBA history in Gregg Popovich.

Who wrote this clunky trainwreck of a story? Not saying he's wrong, but it reads like a 10 year old wrote it.

Ha, and that's what makes this the best thread too.
DeRozan doesn’t improve the 3pt shooting at all, so don’t see his fit. If Wiggins was failing in his role as (PT Wiggins) then I could see the need for DeRozan, but Wiggins is thriving and they are going to give him more.
Just don’t see the point in a guy who comes and takes the ball and shots from Wiggins right now (the article alludes to this very issue).
I was thinking DLO, but he comes in and demands the ball even more.
Anybody have any thoughts on who the perfect type of player would be next to Wiggins and KAT, with Wiggins being used as a primary ball handler and facilitator?
there is no way in hell i want to swap an over the hill teague in his final year on a $19M deal - for an over the hill kevin love who is owed $90M over the next three. plus lose roco? the only cav in that deal who remotely interests me is a still unproven kevin porter - and if we've already got something on this roster, it's a bunch of very good to capable and promising nba wings. solid no.
There is little difference between the memory of a real event and the memory of a dream.
Yeah, that's brutal. Considering his contract and what's going on in Cleveland, if Love wanted out I'm sure they do it for far less than RoCo. Something like Teague/Gorgui and a minor sweetener like a 2nd just to dump that contract and start fresh. Not saying we should, just what the cost would be.

Yeah, I was just kind of spitballing an idea. Love's salary makes it hard to get him without giving something of significance back unfortunately. Not sure I'd give up Roco either, although if they throw in either Garland/Sexton (almost zero chance, I know) you'd have to consider it.
Honestly, I wouldn't take Love and his contract on this team for free. Too overpaid for what he would provide to the roster. Definitely not giving up assets to acquire him and his contract.

I can't tell if he doesn't play some nights because he's resting and the team is semi-tanking .. or is it because he's hurt a lot?

I’m a successful consultant for some of the biggest and best companies in the world. I tell you about systems architecture, not the other way around.
They talked about this on the Windy pod. Cleveland thinks hes an asset and isn't going to dump him. Other teams think they're doing Cleveland a favor taking the contract. It's a weird situation.

I think Cle is hedging both because they are tanking and because the less he plays yhe less chance he's injured and they are stuck. It will hurt his trade value but not as much as playing him and he somehow punches Denard Span.

Cavaliers forward Kevin Love prefers a move to a contending team, league sources tell The Athletic. Cleveland has been open to engaging in discussions with teams, as ESPN reported on Friday. Love has three years and $90 million remaining on his contract after this season.
The most likely suitors, according to reports, are the Nuggets, Blazers, Celtics, and Heat.

I don't know why anyone would want to take that contract on.

If I was the Blazers; I would trade Whiteside for him. Expiring frees up money for the Cavs and Love gives the Blazers a 3rd star to pair with Dame and CJ.

Portland has Jurkic, who is miles better than Love, or most big names available. He plus Collins will pick Portland back up. Losing Whiteside would be all good for them though. He's not the goods.
