Is this about the 2021 draft yet? Just saw a mock and for the first time realized the Wolves gave the Warriors their 2021 second rounder too. Woo hoo... no picks next year!

on the bright side, no excuses this season for not trying to win EVERY game. no 2nd half mail-ins because we're down by 14. no dubious injuries that sit our best players needlessly. in every game this season, the focus should ONLY be on winning and learning how to win. creating a winning culture. we've got no prize coming in next year's draft if we scrape the bottom of the barrel - and not only that, we'd be helping a division rival load up with yet another top prospect. every step we take away from a lottery slot is a step away from a better rookie prospect for GSW..

So if we’re really bad, we have incentive to stay really bad and not scrape and claw our way to kinda bad.
But if we’re kinda bad already, might as well scrape and claw our way to “not bad.”

do you think we could possibly be top 3 bad? i don't think so. i think we'll finish late lottery so GS would get the pick (unless there's a pingpong mishap) - so i think what i'm hoping for is striving for that dreaded middle ground. try like hell to finish 15th or even 16th - because, while you don't want to live there, it's not a bad improvement for a team that finished as poorly as we did this year. if we land there, it means we've won a lot more games - and hopefully that winning instills something.

Under the current rules, even if you have the worst record in the NBA, you still only have a 42% chance at top-3.Beef Supreme wrote: ↑Sat Dec 05, 2020 4:36 pmPick is top-3 protected.somuchyummy wrote: ↑Sat Dec 05, 2020 9:09 am on the bright side, no excuses this season for not trying to win EVERY game. no 2nd half mail-ins because we're down by 14. no dubious injuries that sit our best players needlessly. in every game this season, the focus should ONLY be on winning and learning how to win. creating a winning culture. we've got no prize coming in next year's draft if we scrape the bottom of the barrel - and not only that, we'd be helping a division rival load up with yet another top prospect. every step we take away from a lottery slot is a step away from a better rookie prospect for GSW..

Lets not say anything more on being that bad.

Imagine if we were in the 14th lotto spot and see we moved up..that wait to find out if it's 4 and goes to the warriors or 1,2,3 and it's ours would suck..

Just assume we don’t have a pick. If we get one: gravy! If not, you won’t be disappointed.swenjj wrote: ↑Mon Dec 07, 2020 5:41 pmImagine if we were in the 14th lotto spot and see we moved up..that wait to find out if it's 4 and goes to the warriors or 1,2,3 and it's ours would suck..

Re: *** Official 2020 NBA Draft Thread ***
No one said Obi would suck, but in a preseason game he fought for a board, dribbled a couple times, found a man in the corner and his man simply lost him and he got a dunk. He should put up good number so as long as they don't bury him with vets, but what about that sequence shows he's going to be a better play than he was in college? Like Edwards, he's not going to be judged offensively, they both have the skillset to be NBA ready on that side of the ball. The difference is defense, Obi does not have the physical tools to be a quality NBA defender...where Edwards does. But Obi is a good player, and he went around where we should have. Had we been picking 7-9, he would have been a welcomed addition. However, that clip is hardly impressive in anyway other than the rookie hustled. With again, is not impressive, it's expected.
Still think Okongwu will be the best big in this draft....

How is that funny....it's totally true! Obi can be a capable defender, but he's basically going to be closer to Amare or Love as defenders. Which again, is totally fine....no one is hating on the guy. But for me, that clip just shows me how starved the Knicks are for anything good rather than some amazing Reggie Miller like sequence.

there have been some very nice rookie moments thus far - okoro's game winner, theo maledon's 20 last night, the solid play of bane, malachi flynn's +35 in just 19 minutes last night (that's nearly gaining a bucket on the opposition for every minute he was in the game - obviously didn't hurt his squad). even pokusevski, who is about 30 pounds lighter than he needs to be to function the nba, plays 22 mins last night, and goes 14/8/2. again, these are preseason games.

I’m not gonna lie, I liked seeing Maledon’s start. Something about that kid caught my eye.
