My son has a gun collection and shoots at his range but I am damn sure his car has never held the likes of all that.

What Lady?SO_MONEY wrote: ↑Fri Aug 16, 2019 11:01 amLol. I am now reaching for shit, because I exposed the lady for protesting too much. That you would nullify a jury in some cases. Because your opinion would be the law is unjust. Hilarious.Mplsfonz wrote: ↑Fri Aug 16, 2019 10:56 amNow your just reaching for shit.SO_MONEY wrote: ↑Fri Aug 16, 2019 10:39 am
It is your opinion the laws are in fact lawful. You are choosing to obey those laws and not the superseding law the Constitution.
Would you obey a law that says "x group" cannot be taught to read? Would you sentence a person to prison for teaching someone to read? Why or why not? Remember it's the law!!!
Have a good weekend.
Have a good weekend as well.

I am not arguing either just demonstrating what happens if need is in the conversation of rights. No one is going to agree what people need, because we as individuals require different things. Freedom is based on want where regardless of the feelings of one person, another is not affected by them.Catalyst wrote: ↑Fri Aug 16, 2019 11:05 amJust a question dude...not arguing. Anyways, I have proved my point over and over and I want to move on. I in no way would have expected a passing comment about jury nullification would result in this prolonged of a debate or people being so against the concept, when I damn well know they would themselves practice it according to their beliefs or interpretation of the law in some cases.

"The lady doth protest too much, methinks". It is from Hamlet. It means your objections are too extreme to be believed. And I showed this is correct assuming you wouldn't send someone to prison for teaching another someone to read, or fine someone for an accidentally with no fault running a stop sign.Mplsfonz wrote: ↑Fri Aug 16, 2019 11:21 amWhat Lady?

WTF are you on about?NotRasho wrote: ↑Fri Aug 16, 2019 11:43 am Theres laws about sodomy on the books. Would we bash somebody and call them stupid for being arrested for sodomy? ITS AGAINST THE LAW!
Compliance with stupid laws doesnt make you intelligent, it enslaves you and accomplishes the opposite.
This discussion just shows some people worry more about the validity of the charge, while others worry about the consequence of being guilty. The ones afraid of the consequences always call the ones who dont abide, stupid.
There are laws about rape to. Are they stupid?
Never mind.
Anyone who thinks Telfair wasn't acting stupid is just plain stupid. Idiots need to be in jail for doing something stupid that is against the law.
He had a chance to abide by the law, get a permit and carry all he wants. He's stupid because he didn't do that.
I'm done with all of this. Geez......I found out about a lot of rubes in this thread.

You are equating carrying a gun without a permit to sodomy because you have zero common sense.NotRasho wrote: ↑Fri Aug 16, 2019 11:43 am Theres laws about sodomy on the books. Would we bash somebody and call them stupid for being arrested for sodomy? ITS AGAINST THE LAW!

I am sorry I missed your post. My response is SO WHAT. The use of coke and a mass shooting are two different acts. Somehow, someway not everyone who is high on cocaine commits mass murder and not every mass murder uses cocaine.

I dont find laws against rape stupid, do you? Is this a backwards defense of sodomy laws? Your response confuses me.
[/quote]
This too was my takeaway. It is bizarrely formulated. Like by thinking sodomy laws are unjust you then would think rape laws are unjust. Whether it was his point or not it comes of as supporting sodomy laws and their punishment, that people who engage in sodomy are stupid and should be held accountable for their stupidity.
He said he has learned about posters from this, so have I.

Not saying that. People who are not in their right mind commit mass shootings. Drugs can make people not in their right mind as they have different reactions. The two events are not mutually exclusive.SO_MONEY wrote: ↑Fri Aug 16, 2019 1:08 pmI am sorry I missed your post. My response is SO WHAT. The use of coke and a mass shooting are two different acts. So can alcohol. I guess I am not getting your point maybe or how it relates to what I wrote that people should be allowed to buy, sell or use drugs as it is a choice and that choice is generally victimless.kilkenny wrote: ↑Fri Aug 16, 2019 2:26 pmNot saying that. Sodomy isn’t in the same universe as guns, antiquated laws or not.NotRasho wrote: ↑Fri Aug 16, 2019 5:42 pmIts fun making you concede every topic we engage in. What should I do to be more entertaining? Should I email a froobs wife an unhinged manifesto like you did? should I post porn on the site like you did? Should I beg to be banned and then beg to come back like you did?
Im not sure I want to be entertaining like you. Seems fucking uncorked.

Except it is in the same universe because rights are being violated in both cases. In what universe are some violations of rights okay and others not? There isn't one. You are like many others in the thought that your opinion matters when it comes to rights, it doesn't... all rights matter equally in the protection of freedom. You don't get to pick and choose and not be exposed for being a hypocrite. Which is fine you can be a hypocrite, it just doesn't give you any credibility.thinktank wrote: ↑Fri Aug 16, 2019 6:20 pmSodomy isn’t in the same universe as guns, antiquated laws or not.NotRasho wrote: ↑Fri Aug 16, 2019 5:42 pmIts fun making you concede every topic we engage in. Re: Sebastian Telfair sentenced to 3.5 years in prison
Some of us live in the real world:
“On June 26, 2003, the U.S. Supreme Court in a 6–3 decision in Lawrence v. Texas struck down the Texas same-sex sodomy law, ruling that this private sexual conduct is protected by the liberty rights implicit in the due process clause of the United States Constitution. This decision invalidated all state sodomy laws insofar as they applied to noncommercial conduct in private between consenting civilians and reversed the Court's 1986 ruling in Bowers v. Hardwick that upheld Georgia's sodomy law.”
Then there’s you and Rasho.

No it doesn’t.
The reason sodomy laws aren’t enforced is because they were ruled unconstitutional by the Supreme Court.
States enforcing them is just banging their head against the wall.
Show me where gun permits were ruled unconstitutional or anything of the ilk.
You can’t.
You libertarians gotta stick together tho.

You may not find it illegal but states, federal courts, and every other law body does. “Well-regulated”. Lol. First off they WERE enforced, primarily against gays. Second, funny how you want to hide behind a constitutional argument when it suits you, but constitutional arguments by others have no merit. Like I said you are a hypocrite. You want to refer to the state as to what is constitutional, but only when you agree. YUP the state has always been right. They have never changed their minds and for fucks sake changed them back again. The people are the last check on the law, not the SCOTUS like it or not. The SCOTUS only determine if a law can be attempted to be enforced and their views change on the law.thinktank wrote: ↑Sat Aug 17, 2019 10:15 amNo it doesn’t.

Laws and interpretations change dipshit. Even the constitution changes.
You want to compare sodomy laws ruled unconstitutional to taking away gun permits for criminals.

To me their argument stems more from the belief that for something to be a crime there should be a victim or a reasonable potential victim. Sodomy laws are BS because assuming all involved are consenting parties there is no victim. Same with gun ownership. Telfair's owning/possessing a gun in itself doesn't have a victim or reasonal potential victim.
His argument is just because a group of people have deemed something a crime doesn't make it just.

So when the laws were on the books you would have convicted a person and sent them to prison for sodomy. Got it. Some of us wouldn't have. Because, well it would be wrong.
