One less team in on Russell!

Nice trio of players with Conley, Mitchell, and Gobert.

The Memphis 2020 first round pick Boston has became much more valuable. It is top 6 protected in 2020 but unprotected in 2021.

So the only way we could have beat that if Utah preferred getting 11 to a lottery protected pick enough to take on Dieng for an extra year.

Very good trade for Utah. They know they aren’t a destination for free agents so they have to acquire players by trade. Conley and Mitchell will be a very good back court.

Utah was already a 50 win team. This move by them doesn't really impact us right now

I don't think it is a good deal. They might be worse. Like you said they are not a FA destination. They gave up a lot for a team that needs to build via the draft, but there is blood in the water in a more open West. They gambled. Memphis came away the winners. They will draft Ja and get a vet PG while adding some key players and a second rookie this year.

The only thing of real value was the 23rd pick and that's a crapshoot

Jrowder and Korver are bench vets that will help you and they will get a Vet PG. I don't think they take much of a step back if any and Utah might be worse...marginally...

Great deal for Memphis... assuming that future first doesn't have too many protections.

They pretty much doubled the reported offers they got at the deadline. Sweet deal for them.

Korver and Crowder are good trade pieces actually.

Korver's $7M is only partially guaranteed so they could flip him to a team needing to shave off a few million more, and Crowder is a great fit for any playoff team and his salary is still super affordable so it's not hard to put together a deal for him even if you're a playoff team that's capped out.

They likely got better, this really is not a tank move. If they flip Crowder and Korver different story.

Korver is a nice piece to get a 2nd.

I will 100% disagree on Crowder. Okay defense and poor shooter.

Good point. Korver and Crowder can and probably be swapped for more assets.

Poor shooter? Last year he was 40% total FG%, 33% on 3s at a rate of 6.5 per game. For a bench player that plays okay defense (I would say better than okay) that's someone that any playoff team would want.

I'm not talking about Memphis getting a huge haul or anything for the guy, but he's definitely movable for future assets.

Those are not good percentages. Keep in mind those are regular season averages. His playoff numbers are normally worse.
