63.1% of his shots were at the rim where he shot 79.7%.

FWIW, he had the exact same number of missed shots as blocks according to sports-reference. 117 of each.

His age is also higher than the combined number of 3s he took in 3 seasons of college basketball. ;-)

Fun with stats.
you want to hear a crazy statlike nugget i just learned today? no cheating - off the top your head, do you think there are any players taken way back in the second round of the 2005 nba draft still playing? long shot right? wrong, there are actually still four players taken 31 to 60 that year who are still kicking it out on a nightly basis - cj miles, ersan ilyasova, amir johnson and lou williams. ask that question a year ago and we would have also included monta ellis and marcin gortat on that list. hope springs eternal.
Finding a gem like any of those in the 2nd round would be miracle work for this club, but please, just once.

No, we need him at the U more than with the Wolves. GO BACK TO COLLEGE!

Hoping bol bol is not our choice. If I saw some Gobert in him then sure, but he seems lame to me.

Trying to decide if Carsen Edwards is Aaron Brooks or Kyle Lowry. His quickness (based on athletic testing at the combine) is superb.

I watched Tacko Fall play twice all year. I feel like I need to watch more of him before I give an honest opinion. My early impression is that he doesn’t have the mobility on defense needed to be a great defensive player and he’s pretty raw on offense.
Watching Zion struggle against him is enough for me to spend a 2nd rounder on him.
32 and 11 on 50% shooting isn't exactly a struggle.

with edwards i think the most you could hope for would be a slightly bigger version of nate robinson.

An extremely poor man's version...

He's a lesser version of Lou Williams, or shorter Jamal Crawford. Extremely high volume shooting, no passing, undersized 2.

Maybe Lindsey Hunter is an ok comparison, if I'm remembering him correctly.

i'm sticking with my robinson comp. undersized but physical, very competitive, kind of a chucker, played for 8 teams in 11 years in the league.

Edwards has their explosiveness, but he is about 3-4 inches shorter then both... There is no way Carsen Edwards is a millimeter above 6' tall. In college he got to the rim a lot, but never was quite able to rise up enough to dunk on people the way Westbrook and Rose can/could. He is going to struggle a little to put the ball into the basket going to the rim in the NBA... but his range is awesome. He is going to be a Lou Williams auto offense type in the NBA. He will be a better NBA player than Tyus Jones.

If Carsen Edwards were 6'5" tall, he would be a top ten pick.

Last year he measured 5'11"

https://www.jconline.com/story/sports/c ... 621098002/

"Edwards checked in as the shortest player at the combine at 5 feet, 10 3/4 inches without shoes, or 6-foot even in shoes. No surprise, as Edwards himself said he'll need to work on his point guard skills, since his future likely lies there at the next level."

If this is accurate (below) the first one is obviously wrong.

if there's a trollbuzz feel to this it's because edwards measured a quarter inch under 5-11 without shoes and right about 6 feet with shoes. the wingspan is correct - 6-6. just to clarify.

I haven't watched a ton, just some highlight videos and some on air shooting.

He's not polished by any means. He's not going to come in and be flawless. Lot of learning, but he's like a big ball of clay to be molded. I've been most impressed with his offensive transition, his slashing/cutting, solid straight line drives, and a very workable shooting form. Plus what looked like solid passing potential.

I'll admit I'm projecting a bit into the future and the potential, but there's not much to get excited about at 11.

If all of the PGs are taken and he is available at 11, I would select Doumbouya as the highest upside player, by far, available. I just think on draft night he is a top 10 guy .

I love Clarke but have been saying for months that Doumboya is the better prospect. Both great fits. I'd take Doumboya but I doubt he gets to 11.

He's 18! Like a gazelle! :naners:
I know you've watched a lot of this kid but do you notice any of the defensive issues that are being reported? Really curious.

Gotcha. We all have different prospect that we are in love with and he definitely has some great talent

Moving on, FWIW

Low IQ
Low Motor
Bad Shot Selection
Bad defense

Who does this remind you of?

If all of the PGs are taken and he is available at 11, I would select Doumbouya as the highest upside player, by far, available. I just think on draft night he is a top 10 guy .
I love Clarke but have been saying for months that Doumboya is the better prospect. Both great fits. I'd take Doumboya but I doubt he gets to 11.
I think at 10 he is available... at 11 he is not.
Wash and Atl are going to have a lot to say about it. Atl is going to take at least 1 big. Gonna depend a lot if they see Collins as a 4 or 5. Hayes likely the pick if it's 4 and Doumboya if it's 5. Wash I'm sure would love White to fall to them but it's unlikely. Then they probably go big and start a rebuild. Then they probably go young upside in Doumboya.
