Mount and Blade Bannerlord ®

Post by Mandatory »

I never played the first mount and Blade but this game is so great. Still early access but they've got something here.

Watch some vids.. I cant really explain it.

Played (and playing because this came out) Mount & Blade, as well as Mount & Blade Warband. It's just such an addictive game, really tempted to get this atm.

I think I played too much this weekend. Last two nights I've had dreams where I was commanding troops or doing inventory management. Yikes.

I have no base of reference from previous mount and blade games so my summary of this game is.. you start off creating your character through a pretty cool character creation tool. You pick your faction, your background(choices impact your skills) and after a short tutorial you pick your clan name and colors/crest.

From there you are pretty much cut loose with the instructions of bringing glory to your clan and some other story(spoilers) quests. Most of the game is played out through a zoomed out map where you chase down bandits/looters/other armies and then engage in the combat that I believe the game is built on. Most troops I've had in command is about 30 but it can get into the hundreds. Those battles are sweet! You can also explore towns and cities where you can partake in activities. And of course there's the minor loot grind of selling loot and upgrading your weapons/armor.

I believe it's 10% off on steam right now. Normally is I think $50 and I paid $45, I think. It's in early access and I've read that it's a little buggy but I haven't seen any and everything I've seen is it's getting high marks.

I'd definitely check it out, even watch some youtube videos, if it's at all interesting to you.

It's a game series which will never be fully understood until it is played. No matter how hard you try to describe the glory of this game, it falls short. It's sort of like Sid Meier Pirates I guess.

Hit my legit first bug last night. A "spy" I was supposed to track down as part of a quest wouldn't spawn. I'm thinking about restarting, mainly because I want to switch factions as I like the Vlandian buff more and want that.

BTW, factions are(excuse the spelling):

Empire - Based on Romans
Vlandians - Based on Normans
Aserai - Based on pre-Muslim desert trading empires
Battanians - Based on Celts/Barbarians
Sturgians - Based on Vikings
Khuzaits - Based on Golden Horde/Huns/Steppe Tribes

As far as I can tell, from a faction buff standpoint, only the top 3 are worth picking as a faction.

They changed the names of the factions? Well I'll be damned.

Mine is overpowered for sure, I don't think much. The graphics aren't really extreme, not really even close. My only concern would be late game when you start having 200 v 200 battles. Each soldier is rendered so I'm not sure what impact that has.

Ok, I got it. Couldn't play last night because it took too long to download (the internet speeds have been reduced due to overload).

You can really see the game coming together with the patches they're rolling out. I've not participated in too many early access games but it's impressive how much they're adding constantly.

Sid Meier's Pirates was a pretty direct inspiration for the way the game operates actually. Where you have an overworld map that sort of operates in real time so to speak but then there is a battle map which is fully 3D. I love both games for the record.

Dude, it's so fun. I'm addicted.

If you have issues, watch a few videos on youtube on how to make money, or do battle commands and you'll soon fall into a good rhythm fucking up bandits and independent bands roaming around.
