So I bought this giant tv and the box says 4k hdr, but my Xbox one x kept telling my it wouldn't do hdr10... My ps4 pro said it did her, but nothing about hdr10, no clue if there is a difference. Anyway, tonight before trying rdr2 online I decided to look into this... So apparently I've been all impressed by my two new 4k TV's and haven't even yet been taking full advantage of the hdr10 stuff... I just figured out what I needed to do, probably should read the directions once in a while... Looks more smooth, but I'm not totally sure if it's just me thinking that or if it actually is. I guess the only real way to know would be a side by side comparison.
WTF is hrd10? I can't keep up with all these technological advancements. Just give me a CRT television, she'll be right mate.
High dynamic range = more detail, whiter whites, darker darks. I guess 10 is the current standard. Means 10 bits or something. It's all just so I can watch porn more clearly though.
I'd imagine it makes watching THAT much better!

Lol

But seriously, I have been looking at some televisions, and I am getting so very very confused by all this OLED QLED 4k Ultra etc.

OLed is LG, Sony and probably others top of the line best tech shit. It costs a lot, imo. It looks good, but just not good enough for me to spend that kind of cash when I could get something pretty decent for a fraction of the cost

QLed is Samsung's Oled, I believe. It doesnt seem to review quite as well, but the difference is pretty marginal in reality. Again expensive.

Uhd is just another way of saying 4k, imo. 4k is decent, but get 4k hdr. The cost isn't much different if you are buying on the cheap anyway.

Seriously, before you spend a lot, check out TCL. The 6 series costed just a bit more than I could get past my wife, but it's getting crazy good reviews. My 4 series are too, but if you are even remotely considering dropping $2000 or more, check out the TCL 6 series. You get similar quality for under $1000

TCL is a Chinese brand. I believe it's interchangeable with Hisense and Sharp. They bought Sharp and are using their tech combined with their own which was decent as well. I know Chinese stuff gets a bad rep or whatever, but seriously look at any review of these. They are trying to become a giant in the he tv industry and they are lowballing the competition to get their name out there. This means the consumer is getting g a deal right now.

Once they raise their price, I'm done with TCL, but as long as they are offering a quality product for a 3rd or the cost, I'm all in.
MAn, thanks for that writeup, very very helpful. I always look to Samsung televisions, I think I just trust what I am getting with them, BUT, I will definitely be giving TCL a look after what you have said. There was also some cheap deals on Sony at present, I think they are feeling the pinch vs the other brands.
